I’m seeing a therapist, attending an online support group for depression, practicing questioning negative beliefs and showing myself compassion, pondering what to say in a “letter to my dead parents” in an attempt to console myself, practicing ten minutes of mindful meditation each day, reciting an affirmation, and contemplating buying a new gun – I had to surrender mine to the cops after a failed attempt in March. And I’m getting ready to go buy hamburgers for supper.
How do you practice mindfulness meditation? I’m always looking to better calm my body and mind. I have a hard time focusing on my breath for a long time, maybe I just need to do it more
The basics involve closing your eyes, relaxing, and placing your attention on your breathing. Thoughts will intrude on this, they’re inevitable. When you find yourself lost in your thoughts, you simply redirect your attention back to your breathing. In, out, in, out…acknowledge any thought and return to focusing on your breathing. It can be very relaxing and calming. Google it. You’ll find a trillion million billion articles by anyone and everyone. Its a chic trend.
And yes, it does require lots of practice, but start slow. Five minutes. Then eight, then ten. All the “experts” will bombard you with strict guidelines about posture and atmosphere, about mantras and all kind of zen crap. Screw all that. Save that for later. Just do a few minutes for now and enjoy it. It becomes like a drug…as you get better at it, you’ll want to do it more.
I think that’s more of standard meditation though, right? I’ve always believed and understood mindfulness meditation to be doing something 100 percent. Walking meditation, yoga, working, eating. Google says mindfulness is focusing on 1 thing while meditation is focusing on nothing.
That’s why I asked what you do to mindfully meditate. I suppose your breath is a mindful component, but it’s really just an anchor to get to nothingness.
But forgetting about definitions, I do meditations every day. And it’s always good to hear other people talk about it. You explained it in a great way, hopefully we can get more people here to dissipate their thoughts!

Gosh ,there’s more fish here than I thought.. but just to be sure, I’m going to need to sea some identi-fin-cation..
Captain Fish on duty!
Do I need to show my fins for identifincation?
Sorry I couldn’t reply sooner. I’ve been pretending to be human to earn that human currency stuff. My mind is constantly thinking and of too much but I think I’m okay, I hope a cub is too. Can you tell me what the world has done to be funny? If it’s a good funny like telling a joke then that’s pretty impressive for a planet to talk! But if it’s a bad funny you must tell me who I have to give angry looks at.
I’ve also been earning that human currency stuff :c I’m usually by myself when working, so it does get lonely. I wish that didn’t bother me.
I hope those thoughts dont make you too stressed out. What’s been making you happy lately? Do you spend time with Astro?
I meant funny because I had a dream of you after you did of me. So, there’s no need to give angry faces! Well actually.. *gives you an angry face for making that terrible “talking planet” joke >:c
I’ve moved away from home so I don’t get to see Astro as much anymore. He is getting old now and I’m scared I won’t be there for him if he gets sick or anything else bad happens :c
Oh c’mon that joke was hilarious! C:
There’s a game you should play! It’s called “Sky: Children of the Light”. It’s on the phone and I think there’s animals like us on there. Communication on it is fun but different. You have to use the points you get to talk and make friends. It made me feel less lonely… the game reminds me of us c: we should play together https://sky.thatg.co/?i=zsffDU5xQLOMd-uh9yeT8Q
I’ll keep that in mind. My phone isnt new enough to download that app though it says :c It’s a bit older now, kinda like Astro! Maybe I’ll get a new one sometime soon, we’ll see. Until then, you know all the places you can reach me if you ever want to talk c:
