I think that the term depression falls utterly short of such philosophic and existential prose.
I like the word “ennui”, meaning a discontented state, bored, tired.
Not sure if it was something I heard or something I dreamed, but it always sounded like “beautiful misery.” Sort of in a french/dutch manner of sad purposelessness.
Think it’s probably a matter of degree. Some people will hurt you in large, unforgivable ways, or on purpose. Some will hurt you in small ways by accident, and will try to make it right when they realize. I suppose the difficult part is getting a sense of who the person is, but there are usually clues/warning signs.
You could label everyone a forest of blue and expect something bad to happen – or you could rush in blindly – or you could find the fresh eyes and not worry and know your worth – just in your mind disposing of anyone who wants to hurt you. Not everyone is like that, but it feels like it when you’re alone in your soul.
