Wow some surprises there, some huge successful people. I know Lady Gaga gets a lot of hate because people can’t fathom how someone as successful and confident as she is might be depressed. Instead she gets accused of being a poser. It sucks for us who aren’t superstars, to see that those up high can’t even get help.
when i was younger, i used to hide my depression really well. no one knew i was depressed. i appeared so happy and confident every time i was out. many ppl in hollywood do the same (except much ofc)- you know the old adage “fake it till you make it.” A LOT of celebrities fake being happy and confident, bc you have to in this world, or you’ll get torn apart.
lol all us weird/depressed/oddball ppl love lady gaga. she grew up not fitting in, so yeah she’s wildly successful NOW but growing up, she wasn’t the confident happy successful social butterfly with a million friends. she grew up feeling like a weirdo and not fitting in. her peers didn’t seem to treat her very well.
same with Christina Aguilera, except she’s not shy about talking about how shit those ppl were to her growing up. they made fun of her, mocked her, especially when her video of Genie in a Bottle came out when she was in HS. People were cruel to her.
People are generally cruel to anyone that isn’t cookie-cutter. Sure they are famous and successful now, but MANY celebs were picked on as kids. Also, some ppl have a tendency to be super mean to ppl they are jealous of, bc they were talented/gorgeous/etc so yeah, a lot of these celebs grew up being bullied/made fun of/never fit in/were loners/etc.
It’s always funny how people are like “look at all the stuff they have they should be happy, etc etc”. When depression, anxiety, etc, doesn’t discriminate. I think it’s still just because it isn’t a visible physical disability, it’s still treated as less than.
yes, invisible disabilities are definitely treated as less than. but ppl with physical disabilities are treated like sh*t too. so it’s lose-lose if you have either.
it isn’t about the “stuff” ppl have- many celebrities get cyberbullied these days. just look at the comments in social media. even videos of watermelons and squirrels get hate comments, which is nuts. i looked through a bunch of the celebrity deaths and a lot of the young ones seem to be cyberbullying. ppl talk about it every time there’s a cyberbully death, but then after a week or two, ppl move on and forget about it, until the next cyberbullying death, that gets talked about, then forgotten…and rinse and repeat.
What are you talking about? Gaga is worshipped up there and down here. Nobody’s cruel to her like what you’re saying…
And you know that jealousy isn’t the root of all bullying. Some just get off on it. Gaga can suck my d
