Not really my genre. Battle royale on ur list I’ve seen, not bad imo, the rest don’t ring a bell.
” The Thing” and “Predator” would be the best last man standing type movies imo.
House of 9
The Employer
are good last man standing thrillers,
if you want to shake things up, Ishtar is the only movie I’ve ever seen with a funny suicidal scene. It’s about these two failed musicians who get wrapped up in spy stuff in the middle east. Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty, 1987
finished watching house of 9. not half bad. actually, i think i might have watched it years ago, bc the beginning looked a bit familiar. but then again, many of these last-man-standing type of movies are pretty much the same lol
Finished watching 9 Dead (2010) as well. This one has Melissa Joan Hart in it. Funny how this one is titled almost the same as House of 9 (2004), and also has a white cop, an angry black guy, and a priest. Like even the characters are recycled in these survival last-man-standing shows. 3/9 characters the same. and 9 participants total. Guess they can’t come up with anything new eh? Sheesh O_o
@heartlessviking you know ur stuff man, Ishtar is quite interesting. Warren Beatty by virtue of his legendary womanizing is often overlooked as the serious artist he is. His 1981 movie Reds has always intrigued me. An intimate study of socialism/communism in America, which not being American myself I have often been told that there are few topics as divisive as socialism in America, hence my respect for the balls to make such a movie.
One of the first and imo the best, an Italian flick from the 60s called The 10th Victim. Ursula Andress & Marcello Mastroianni are 2 returning champions in a dystopian game show where people assassinate each other. Be prepared, it’s a dark comedy/social satire. The dark comedy is that the kills are televised, sponsored by advertisers with big production budgets.
There’s also a subtle commentary about the difference between Americans & Italians when it comes to love & moral values. Also it’s very artistically shot, if you’re into 60s euro surrealism (Fellini etc). So it’s def not your standard action flick but I think it works great, if you’re looking for something unusual.
hm…guess these survival game show themes were already around in the 60s. a revival. had previously thought that was a recent-ish phenomena since Battle Royale…

The Walking Dead (you get really attached to the characters, at least I did, and Man of Medan was a good thriller ish game.
But those are vg lol

Yellowjackets is fun. Kind of like Lord of the Flies with more cannibalism (and 90s nostalgia.)

hm…was going to watch 9 Dead. Apparently, there’s loads of horror flicks with similar names.
