This video was made last year, “official” inflation at 8.7%
And this year’s inflation # just came out at “only” 3.2%.
What a crock of bullshit. We all know the prices of foods and goods has risen way more than 3.2% this year. The govt lies about inflation #s so that the COLA- Cost of Living Adjustment remains low. COLA is what determines how much Social Security has to pay out, and the govt has been lying for DECADES about inflation #s to not pay out.
Inflation was “0.0%” in 2015
Inflation was “0.3%” in 2016
Inflation was “1.6%” in 2019
Inflation was “1.3%” in 2020
Inflation was “5.9%” in 2021
Inflation was “8.7%” in 2022
Inflation was “3.2%” in 2023
Inflation sure as heck is MUCH higher than 3.2% this year.
Inflation sure as heck was NOT 0% in 2015
Is there ANYTHING that isn’t a lie?
The video was made last year and is referencing last years’ inflation #s, which was 8.7%
And this year’s inflation is supposedly “only” 3.2%, which is a crock of bullshit.

heh, most half decent politicians can lie with statistics, just by picking and choosing
awful as it is, it’s also impressive the kind of politicians that lie with statistics by creating more moving parts than the average voter can follow. Now that’s economics as an applied science, and psychology.
but I just don’t know that any government outside of the EU is any better, that is about real fiscal policy. Heck, we should probably kick Greece and Italy out of that club also.
Because the US government plays at transperency. All the data is there, if you are able to interpret it. What they do is choke off the amount of people capable of interpretting it, many wonder what profit there is in sabotaging education, well here it is.
The inverse exists though, governments who promote higher intelligence but don’t play at transperency, South Korea immediately comes to mind. Even if you had all the government numbers you wouldn’t have everything because such a large amount of their economy is controlled by four companies.
House was right, everyone lies. The exceptions are few and even those few likely believe things that are actually lies, or support and promote said lies for survival.
That’s the knack I never got, lying to people for their own good. Well, for my good actually. Their good wasn’t the issue, I just couldn’t be self serving enough. Low self esteem they call it. I call it being a decent human being knowing the consequences of my actions.
but getting into COLA, and why it is so resistant to facts; politics, specifically who owns congress. Oil more than anyone, if they let COLA actually reflect the cost of living, they’d have significantly less profits to bribe their executives to look the other way while they kill their customers. I realize how paranoid that sounds, I don’t mean it that they are out to get anyone, they’re just paid off.
Inflation is the creeping rot of economics, the product of bad monetary policy. Because in theory no one wants inflation. Yet here we are, burdened with an abundance. I’m sick, I keep hoping it’ll turn into runaway inflation and destroy the US monetary system. It might be the one thing to wake people up, though I know we disagree on the feasibility of that task.
No one is talking about 15 YEARS of low cost lending, the government printing money and giving it to the people who already had way more money than they can spend. You can’t increase the interest rate enough, because the money’s already out there, it’s been being printed at an astonishing rate for more than a decade. It’s just they’ve run out of ways to hoard their wealth. Crypto just crashed, it seems that all of capitalism is on the brink of some sort of hellish reckoning
and to me it can’t come too soon. I’m not rich, never will be. If the markets bottomed out tonight I’d still be worth the same amount come morning. I’d actually be worth more, because my debt would be peanuts. No one I know will suffer, just the idiots who’ve been eating all the profits for the last 40 years.
Let it burn, or as the youth in China are saying “Let it rot” The chains won’t go back on
Reminds me of a German folk song from the 19th century, Heckerlied;
Ja 33 Jahre währt die Sauerei
Wir sind keine Knechte, wir sind alle frei
or in English, because I doubt most of the people who read this will know much German;
33 long years we stood with this disgrace
All of us are freemen, of the human race
Hecker, the inspiration for the song was rather an interesting character. His revolution didn’t succeed, but reforms happened and conditions improved. He meanwhile was exiled to the USA, where he joined and fought for the Union in the Civil War. He remained a symbol of power to the ordinary people, and eventually retired to Illinois.
“freeman” – sigh, none of us are “free”
there was some study done that said the average American currently lives poorer than indentured servants of the past.
It’s how George Carlin said- “we have the *illusion* of freedom”
Def about a 20% hike in a lot of things I’ve seen.
Here’s a possible theory.
I have 10 pieces of cake…10 people. Each can have a slice
same cake…20 people Hmmm, who has a dollar? Those who have a dollar can get a piece
1 cake – 30 people and most have a dollar….ok who can give me two dollars?
1 cake – 100 people most have 5 dollars …ok who can give me ten dollars?
1 cake – 1000 people: ok lets cut the cake into smaller slices to make 100 – and who has 20 dollars to pay for a 10th of slice of cake?
Now:
1804: 1 billion people
1927: 2 billion
1960: 3 billion
1974: 4 billion
1987: 5 billion
1999: 6 billion
2012: 7 billion
2022: 8 billion
2054: 10 billion people
And although we may destroy even further biospehere for the industrial farming and city development in an attempt to feed and shelter 3 additional people per second of every day (death rate already accounted for), I don’t believe it’s enough. Combined with a monetary system I see no other direction than for inflation to grow as malignant as our population numbers.
Resources are being sold to the highest bidders and while there are 100s of various factors that drive inflation fluctuation across the hellscape earth, I believe the prime driver is this.
