If I’m talking only about myself then yes I agree with that statement. I measure the value of my own life by what I might or might not achieve, in other words my impact on the world (which is currently dead zero).
But this doesn’t apply to everyone nor do I judge others by this. My dog probably isn’t going to find a cure for cancer, and I don’t expect her to. Instead I like seeing how much she values & enjoys life just by being alive. I suppose some people have that attitude. Just living makes life worth living.
Unfortunately that just doesn’t work on me. Wish it did. It even makes sense. But nah, in my head my achievements (failures) are worthless so I am too. And a worthless life isn’t worth living.
