There are so many ppl living terrible lives, with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, living in poverty or near poverty. 61-67% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and 50% do not have a $500 emergency savings.
Yet idiots are out there popping out tons of children. If you can’t even afford to give yourself a good life, how can you be out there popping out so many children?
Is that not negligence and child abuse to bring human beings into the world that you cannot adequately take care of- financially, physically and emotionally?
Does it make any sense to have children when you only see them a few hours a day?
The avg person doesn’t even get to see their husbands/wives more than a few hours a day let alone have time to rear children. Which is why kids today have no manners and are so poorly behaved.
Avg person wakes up, gets ready for work. 8hrs of work, 1 hr RT commute, then pick kids up. They’re already exhausted by the time they come home. So they just plop the kids in front of a screen.
Even single people only have a few hours a day every day to do everything- like clean, get groceries, laundry, dishes, eat etc.
No one is even parenting anymore yet ppl are plopping out tons of babies. What kind of quality life will those children have?
People who are born poor will have children who remain poor. There is very little social mobility that occurs in society.
If you are a loving person, a loving parent, why would you want to thrust your children into a life of poverty? Or near poverty? Most people don’t think they live in poverty, but statistics tell a different story.
If 61-67% are living paycheck to paycheck, why have children? Not even one but these ppl are having 2, 3, and 4. I get wanting to have 1 child. But 4? When you can barely take care of yourself financially?
Not only that, but I know SO many women from my depression groups say “if I have a baby, I will no longer be depressed.” Or “If I have a baby then my Husband been will love me and save our marriage.” Says all the women Already having marital issues.
having a child will only make life worse, only make marriages worse, make depression worse, and make finances worse.
I get ppl wanting to have ONE child- I get it. But one should not have multiple children, Especially if they can’t afford it, are already struggling financially or emotionally, If you already have depression, then you should not have a child because you’re not going to be able to adequately take care of the child. If you cannot even adequately take care of a pet, how can you adequately take care of a newborn?
I know SO many women with depression think having a baby will magically make them happy and get rid of their depression. Which is the complete opposite of what will happen. And a horrible reason to bring a child into the world.
If a couple is in a loving marriage, and is making a middle class income, then it is fine to have children. This post is not about them- It is about people Who shouldn’t be having children who are, and having lots of them.
I just don’t think it is fair to the children who have to grow up in poverty, or grow up poor. Or children who have to grow up in an unhappy environment (ie to parents who fight). Trust me, children who grow up that way generally do not grow up to be well-adjusted happy humans.
I don’t understand why unhappy and already struggling adults make the decision to have MORE children when they already cannot even provide for themselves, or the children they already have.
And no, it is not just the republicans. Lots of Dems do this shit too.
Is that not selfish and irresponsible?

Absofukcinglutely.
The problem is that it’s such a popular delusion that we’re supposed to have children, that it’s our manifest destiny or gods decree or patriotic duty or whatever the fuck dumbasses swallow these days, that everyone goes along with it.
Humans are a herd like species. I say that not as an insult but a matter of fact. We follow. The dumber you are, the harder you follow. And since dumbness (lack of education and independent, critical thought) is linked to poverty, and poverty is like 1/3 the human population, that’s 1/3 the population dedicated to baby making machinery.
And it isn’t just blind follow-the-leader dumbassery that leads to spawning. It’s pure inexcusable selfishness. In the lowest case it’s CHILDREN WILL TAKE CARE OF US AND WIPE OUR ASSES. And in a slightly more sophisticated yet equally deplorable case (most privileged people) it’s I WANT A GENETIC COPY OF MYSELF.
But like you said, it really comes down to child abuse. Let’s have a baby in a burning house y’all.
PS I’m also attacking myself. Although I wised up at the last minute, I came extremely extremely close to having children myself. I was young and stupid and “in love”, and for a time I was one of the happy dumbasses thinking “MY kids will be happy and beautiful and awesome copies of myself”
Holy fuck I’m so glad I wised up. If I were stuck with the crushing sin of creating life in this hell I don’t know what I would do with myself. I actually have great sympathy and respect for people who had children in a moment of poor judgment and are now doing the best they can to care for their mistake.
Unfortunately, most people aren’t “doing their best” To take care of the children. So many children are growing up in broken homes, in broken families, and being neglected by the parents that don’t love them.
This is why we have all these “Karen’s” and “Ken’s.” People are living in a pressure cooker, and all it takes is a twig to make people snap, and snap they do.
Poverty is actually more than 1/3 of the population. In the US, they keep changing the definition “poverty” to make the #s less horrible.
There are hundreds of millions of people in the “extremely poor” category that are not labeled in poverty. Like me. I am poor as fuck but the government labeled me as NOT in poverty.
Every year, they lower the #s so ppl don’t qualify to be labeled in “poverty” and thus not Qualifying for food stamps and other assistance. They do this shit on purpose to not give anything to the poor.
I would benefit so much from just getting food stamps. Healthy food = healthy body = more productive. But nah, fuck the poor says the govt and republicans. Even most Democrats are against it too.
If 61-67% are Living paycheck to paycheck, then clearly there’s more than 1/3 living in “poverty” in the US.
Apparently “extremely poor” is not “poverty “ and those “Extremely poor” get zero help.
But poor is poor. And all those idiots/AHs in the “middle class” who think all Social services should be cut, don’t realize that THEY are also 1 medical bill or 1 default away from being poor themselves.
