Big issue- we live essentially as serfs and peasants, just like back in the old days. Nothing has changed. New rulers and new peasants, but peasants we are nonetheless. Low wages, high cost of housing, food, education, healthcare, etc. we do not own anything. Even if you think you “own” a house or land, the government can just take it away via eminent domain, banks via “unpaid taxes.” Private corporations can just burn everything down, then swoop in and buy it for pennies on the dollar (Palisades, LaHaina, etc)
Medium issue- just checked the weather. I fucking HATE the weather here. Always nasty. Either it’s hit and humid AF in the summer or cold and icy AF in the winter. I fucking miss CA. Nice weather 9 out of 12 months.
It’s going to effing snow- again. And the temps will drop- again. To low of 7. Degrees that is. And I bet Uber and UberEats will jack their prices and fees even more once it snows again.
Small issue- effing forking Uber changed its “delivery fee” as I was still in cart. I added an item and it made the fee jump from 0.49 to 2.99. Delivery fees are NOT supposed to change. I then removed that item and the fee stayed at 2.99, when literally 30s prior it was 0.49. And that’s on top of the other fees they charge (which does fluctuate depending on size of order). Like $15 fee on a $25 order on another restaurant (I did not order- saw how ridiculous it was at checkout). I have a “60% off up to $20” coupon- only reason I am even looking. And no, I refuse to order at anything other than the original stated 0.49 delivery fee. How effing dare they try to price gouge me as I’m still in cart. Literally changing the static fee.
And yes I know I don’t have to order but ALL of the fucking apps are like this. And no, restaurants no longer have their own deliveries for free like they used to have before these vulture food apps came along. Doing nothing but bilk us.

I don’t know, the things that bother me are so petty, really petty. The wrong authors get famous, for example. This is why I didn’t go out and become an author, because I’ve read amazing authors, authors who should be famous, but who’s famous? The ones everybody already knows.
So you want to know my pet peeve? Steven King. I’ve watched a ton of movies and shows based on his stuff, and I’ll grant, it’s good, but it’s not like he’s the only fucking author in the country for fuck sake. I can’t get through his books because they’re just long trudges. He’s obsessed with alcoholics and it’s like we get it, you had a drinking problem FUCK. He can’t get to the monster or supernatural shit. His son has that problem too.
And then there’s horror movies, we can’t get horror movies based on books in this country and get them to actually capture what was good about the book, or we can’t get them about the books that I really like. Don’t give me horror is a niche genre either, it makes up a lot of the new media being put out, it’s just a lot of it is dreck. I keep seeing great horror shows and they get canceled just when they were building to something interesting. It’s just, FUCK, I was getting invested. This was my escape from the bleak Oklahoma landscape.
Then a lot of shows which are on these days are cockteases, like Fallout might fall into that category they just finished the season and it’s like…… did we really accomplish anything or were you just keeping the franchise warm? Now I have to wait another year to see if the next season will actually do something or be another tease of a season, probably another tease.
I’ve been waiting two years on a book from my favorite author to finish the series he started five years ago, and fuck is THAT annoying. Shit or get off the pot. I mean, I give authors a lot of room if they’re brilliant, and this guy is pretty close, but most of our adult lives while he screws around with short fiction….. and this is a guy who should have movies made of his work, or at least a mini series, but no, because Hollywood can’t tell their ass from a cardboard box.
Sick of it I say! Stories are most of what’s keeping me going, and I need a steady drip of horror books and movies, good ones or I’m not going to make it long term.
Oh and Disney, Disney is the worst when it comes to hoarding shit. They talk like they’re the makers of dreams, but when they get their hands on something they won’t let you have it unless you lay out the cash, and it pisses me off.
I wanted to watch Ghost Whisperer, remember that show? It was on for five years and I had good memories of it, but Disney won’t let you watch it unless you pay for live TV on their service, OR you pay them $70 to buy it from Amazon to purchase the whole series. They want you to pirate it, clearly. Which means you’ve got to get all the hardware set up and I don’t have the funds to get that set up throughout the house right now. Maybe soon.
I’m just saying, I miss the days when everything was on Netflix. I mean everything, B-movies, Ghost Whisperer, everything you could want because streaming was so new no one knew you could rip people off with it. Now you’ve got to pay $100s a month if you want ALL of it. Who could even keep track of ALL of it even if they had all of it?
I like the part where there’s lots of new content, that part is cool, but a fair amount of that new content is just filler and stupid. Paramount+, for example, has tons and tons and tons of stuff for very small children, I swear, infants, and I don’t want that, I want all the movies that Paramount has made over the years, their catalog has got to be gigantic, but what? They don’t have the fucking rights?! CBS was a subsidiary of Paramount, but where did all of THEIR shit go? It’s just GONE. Ghost Whisperer was a CBS show. So was Two and a Half Men. Instead I’m expected to pay $160 if I want to watch all of that last show.
It’s like, you pay for cable for decades, where did that money go?! Up someone’s nose I’ll bet cha. I feel like if you watched a show, you should get to watch it again. You should own your own experiences.
Not in the United States of Fucking America, where you pay for a show at LEAST three times. If it’s a movie, four.
Who becomes famous isn’t about talent in the US. There’s virtually no originality in the types of movies and tv shows that get mass produced, and then get blasted to us the populace. THEY control what is “popular” and what isn’t. THEY control what content even gets made. And it isn’t the indie stuff. It’s the same old cookie cutter stuff.
This used to bother me when I used to host movie nights every week, and I also fucking hated how Netflix fucked it’s loyal customers over, raised prices. I was literally a Netflix member from the very beginning and for like 20 years. Until they upped the prices. Usually one gets grandfathered into a plan if you’ve been on and pay your bills faithfully. But nope. They were douches. And Amazon, even worse. Everything used to be prime on Amazon and therefore “free” but now you need like a million individual subscriptions to watch anything on Amazon. I no longer watch on Amazon steaming but they don’t care bc $$$$.
These days I just watch free YT. I watch mainly content from individual creators now rather than from giant corporations.
Oh I went through an anime phase too, but there’s a subscription to watch that too.
If you’re a horror fan, I suggest you watch Asian horror shows. They’re actually really scary and creepy unlike the ones here where it’s mostly just gory and disgusting.
Can you not get your movies at the library? All the old stuff is free- if your libraries carry it. Tho they have gone digital vs having actual discs.
I hear you- Netflix and Amazon will pissed me off with their changes but I guess I have lots of other things that piss me off way more so I don’t focus on that.
It’s all free stuff on YT for me. Though- I suppose I traded watching movies and documentaries for watching the news and that’s a shit show (I watch real independent news not MSM corporate propaganda, very few unbiased independent podcasters left. And yes most of them are also bought despite pretending the are “independent” bc most of them all get money / “donations” and are implicitly told to push a particular narrative or agenda.
I hate the city/state that I am in, but maybe you would love it if only for this reason- ppl here leave out old dvds and vhs tapes on the curb for anyone to take. Lots and lots of them. All free. You would have a field day.
You can literally have an entire library worth by just going out and collecting them for a couple of weekends.
I wish it was 7 degrees Fahrenheit where I am. In the negatives right now, recently was – 14, -22 last week.
As for my grievances, my biggest one is that I was born. But also, Human beings arent good at liking each other, or sharing with each other. I dont like people, dont trust people. Most people, anyway, there are a few I like.
My biggest gripe with humans is deception. We seem to be the only mutant species on the planet that practices, as an essential way of life, deception.
A grizzly bear doesn’t invite you in for tea & crumpets to convince you to invest all your savings in an investment scam. A grizzly just eats your ass the way nature intended it.
But humans have invented this intricate web of deception that is literally our way of life. Not even talking about the criminal shit, how about ADVERTISING? Advertising is nothing but deception, like the way food commercials don’t show real food (fun fact, the ‘mayonnaise’ on hamburgers is Elmers glue, the ‘syrup’ on pancakes is motor oil, and pizza ‘cheese’ is glue nailed to a board so it pulls off in long strings). But what I’m really getting at is fucking politicians and the ‘democratic’ leaders who make the decisions that result in our life, death & suffering… has there ever been 1 politician who kept his campaign promises? And yet we’re forced to accept the lies because that’s what we’ve been forced to expect at every level of this disgusting un-natural shit society. Dear lordy bring back the dinosaurs already.
In Japan, those types of food commercials are banned. OFC in the corrupt US of A, anything the rich does is perfectly fine and legal. The only time the rich ever pays any consequences is when they screw over another rich fucker (SBF, Madoff, etc).
Not to burst your bubble but many animals also engage in deception. That’s not to minimize the shit humans do, but don’t think nature is any less shitty.
I had posted here a short of an imposter chick that hatched first and as soon as it was born, it pushed the other eggs (the real eggs of the mother bird) out of the nest and they all fell splat dead on the ground. And the mother bird comes back and continued to feed the imposter chick and has no idea how her 2 other eggs just disappeared.
There’s this species of cuttlefish where the small males are too small to fight the big alpha male for the right to mate so the little males pretend to female, and when the males aren’t looking, they sneak in a mating and the female lays their eggs instead of the alpha males.
There’s also lots of deception in the ape / chimp family.
Nature is full of deception. I get that one views humans as evil vs animals are seen as “innocent” and just being animals. But animals have far more capacity to think, reason and understand and do things purposely than humans give them credit for.
Dude- have you seen this experiment where the researchers gave monkeys tokens which can be Exchange for food, and those monkeys then traded food for sex with the female monkeys- all on their own- not taught to do any of that by the researchers. The researchers were all shocked the monkeys were trading the food for sex. Researchers discovered Prostitution in monkeys lol.
And there’s tribes of chimps / apes that purposely attack their rival colony and eat their rivals as a show of dominance and to teach them not to mess with their tribe.
There are documentaries showing how 2 male dolphins get together to gang rape a female dolphin. It showed the female struggling to escape but it couldn’t escape when it was being watched by the 2 males, and they took turns keeping watch and raping. They had her trapped and took turns guarding and raping her for 3d straight. The distressed female kept trying to escape but the males kept cutting her off and pushing her to the sand and rocks. Lovely isn’t it?
There’s shit like that that NO ONE talks about.
Anyway, long story short, there’s lots of evidence that animals/birds/and even plants that are pretty fucking shitty. They just can’t talk which is why everyone thinks animals are so “cute and innocent.”
People just LOVE their dogs and cats but there’s many instances of owners dying and the cats and dogs just eating their owners. At least Dogs may wait a few days but cats eat their owners right away, while they’re still warm.
Ok so the last few aren’t examples of deception but there are lots of examples (I just have terrible memory so cannot remember all the documentaries I’ve watched). But the basic takeaway is this – nature is just as viscous and deceptive as humans. Nature is actually really brutal when you sit and watch exactly what they do. Like I didn’t realize just how viscous nature was when I rewatched Documentaries that I used to watch as a kid.
Yes, I get what you’re saying- that humans are a special kind of evil. We plot, we plan, we commit evil. I’m not arguing with that. Just saying that the rest of nature isn’t all that great either. In fact, many of them are fucking monsters.
