I had a lazy day just on my laptop today, and have been watching/ reading about things that fascinate me.
The main topic that caught my eye was the theories and thoughts surrounding solipsism and realism.
Solipsism is the thought/ belief that you are the only real thing. That the people you know, the information you’ve learned about history and research going on is just information ‘created’ for you (as if you’re in the matrix kind of idea).
Realism is that things exist whether you are here or not, and realism states that your perception of reality and the things that happen are false to actual reality, and that we don’t understand or perceive reality as it actually is, but individually.
It led me to thought that confused me. These theories make me feel mixed emotions.
They, both in their own way, make me feel even more depressed and meaningless to history, worthless. Yet also make me feel more human, and more curious and exited to live, learn and work, so I can have more of an understanding of ‘reality’, or that I can achieve my own idealized reality in the future. These thoughts again stimulate the same feelings in turn.
I find my opinions alone fascinating and odd, I’d love to here yours. Thanks.

I am of the personal opinion that solipsism is quite ridiculous, laughably absurd. Though i had naturally wondered if i were, in fact, the only real person, at quite a young age.
It’s an interesting thing to consider, but i think it’s easily dismissed… and further, that anyone who insists that they are the only real being, is completely insane, or at least mentally incompetent… that, or they are trolling, because they realize you exist, and they think it’s hilarious to try to convince you that you don’t.
I exist. And i’m pretty sure everyone else exists too.
Just as some individuals don’t perceive objective reality, some very much do. Not everyone does, and so not everyone understands the concept… which leaves them highly susceptible to “crazy” ideas about reality not being real. It’s there, and it’s real, whether everyone, or some of us, or no one at all, understands it.
We don’t have to understand events for them to occur. We don’t have to understand existence, to exist.
Solipsism and “life as a simulation” are just philosophy hacks. They are interesting and bizarre ideas, which are based on the idea that you can’t disprove them entirely. Being unable to disprove something doesn’t make it true. Being unable to prove something doesn’t make it false.
But sometimes there is no evidence to support outrageous claims, and so why should we base anything on something that can’t be verified?
See what is, as it is, for what it is, and go from there.
I like the theory about solipism.
But even if everything around me doesn’t exist or if everything is a dream than it is still real. It still would be my reality, like it is now.
If you can read this than you exist because I am not reading it for you.
