The right to end one’s life in a calm, peaceful, and rational manner should be a basic human right. Society and the government seem to believe that they own us, so they make it hard if not impossible to find information and tools about self-euthanasia, and they criminalize people who try to assist it.
You will even see people posting on this site, trying to tell you about their value systems and why you should not end your life. That’s just plain rude.
Obviously before you would choose to end your life, you’d want to contemplate why you’re doing it, what could go wrong, who it will affect, and how it will affect them. It’s not easy saying goodbye to life, friends, and the future…but sometimes it’s the right thing to do.
Myself, I’ve lived with chronic physical and emotional pain since I was in the womb. Tried all kinds of therapies, self-help, religions, lifestyles. Now I am ready to euthanize myself (I dislike the word suicide), but I can’t find the ******** or any other painless method to do so. That’s sad.
One thing a lot of people forget when they discuss self-euthanasia is that the human species has exceeded carrying capacity on this planet and is on track to extinct all other species while also creating a dead world. Every human who chooses not to make children, or to self-euthanize, is removing ecological damage from the situation. And that’s an admirable thing to do.
I hope I can find the painless pill soon, but the governments and social structures that work against my right to die are fierce and oppressive. If anyone has any legitimate help so I can procure the materials I need, please contact me. In the meantime, I will live with pain, and lead an ethical life.

Yes, PBR, we should have the right to self euthanize ourselves without the government, religious wingnuts or whoever, telling us we can’t. I wish you good luck in finding a way to do if that’s your desire. Very good post!
We actually haven’t exceeded carrying capacity. It’s just that 1% of the population controls 40-60% of the wealth.
Every person on the planet who is currently alive, could fit in the city of Los Angeles, standing “comfortably” shoulder to shoulder (as in not tightly packed, but barely touching).
We have far better and more sustainable means than we’re currently using, mostly due to politics and cronyism.
This planet could support at least 3 times the current population, if things were done right; it’s not that the planet can’t support us, it’s that too many more of us will too heavily impact TPTB’s margins.
However, there doesn’t need to be any airtight argumentative justification; when a person is ready to go, they’re ready to go. We should respect that, and facilitate their exit in the most comfortable, understanding, humane possible way.
When my time comes, if anyone attempts to “tell me i can’t,” i will respond along the lines of: “watch me.” (or “oh yeah?” or “wanna bet?” or “hold my beer.”)
Greetings. Regarding humans exceeding earth’s carrying capacity, I am talking about anthropogenic mass extinction and planet trashing. From a purely selfish point of view, humans could enslave the entire biosphere and support X amount more of us while creating a sci-fi world that would resemble the one in the movie Elysium. However, for those of us who believe that non-human life forms, blue skies, living oceans, natural ecosystems, whales, dolphins, peace, quiet, clean air, clean water, and other things are as valuable and special as human economy…human population has to be much lower than it is right now. And that alone is good enough reason to have self-euthanasia totally legal and easily available. Humans are the most consumptive and destructive species earth has ever seen, and that is one reason some of us feel that ending our own lives is the ethical, ecologically right thing to do.
It makes no sense that people don’t have a right to choose. Especially when it’s coming from the “right to life” people who are in essence taking away your right to your own body. And these are the same people that attack the concept of choice regarding abortion, which seems hypocritical to me.
I also agree with all that about politics and cronyism. The wealthy (thinking of my country, specifically) are the most despicable force holding us back.
A peaceful escape would be a dream come true. I’ve given up all hope of it. It simply isn’t going to happen for me. I am disabled near paralyzed, just a scrunched up creature stuck in bed begging for a release that will never come. My mother watches me suffer slowly refusing to help me die. She has chosen herself and her own comfort above her own child. She does not deserve me. Brought me straight to hell and abandoned me.
Who can describe the horror of the severely disabled and paralyzed? Who are abandoned to their fate with no hope, while healthy persons smugly block our way to freedom and release? I only want this nightmare to end. I only want one person to kill me- to save me. And that person, good or bad, will be my savior.
