Some can argue it means multiple things. For me it means I’m living for others because if I die right now I would feel like I failed them. In the end, it probably won’t matter.
It means you care what other people think. Which makes no sense to me, because once you’re dead you won’t be aware of how other people feel.
I suppose “living for others” means denying your own wishes in order to make others happy.
You can’t control what other people think, say or do. If your actions cause someone to think a certain way, that’s on them, not you.
Are you their puppet master?
No, you can not control what people think, but you can lead them to a conclusion if you want. If I dressed in rags and went out on the streets people could conclude I am homeless. If I looked respectable and nice they would see me as civilized. Now, none of this has to do with physical but it works in much the same way.
No, I am not a puppet master and that is not what it means. It simply means that we have some input on what people think of us.
And in case you are wondering, I am not living to make others keep a good remembrance of me. I’m not one of those who want revenge on people with my death. By getting revenge, that means people will remember me.
I think in sense you want to change, well influence, anothers perspective about themselves. Help them see their self worth and their abilities so they can find hope, change and hopefully live a better life than before. So they feel they have not fsiled themselves and are capable of succeeding.
I believe we do, no matter how much we deny it. It is human nature after all. Every human action and desire can be explained from an evolutionary standpoint…and the need to be accepted by others is no exception.
To some extent, yes, we care about what other people think.
When was the last time you asked somebody for permission before you did what you wanted to do?
Do you ask other’s if it’s ok to breathe, take a dump, eat, go to sleep, or whatever else? How much do other peoples opinions factor into deciding what you’re going to do regarding your own body?
But when you really think about it, how much do you really limit yourself to avoid other people having a negative opinion of you? People eat sloppier in private than in public. They act different. You wouldn’t go take a dump just anywhere, because what would people think? Also you could get into some legal trouble…but still.
Well I can tell you all about that, StruggleOn. It started out cute. Then it got cuter. Then just too cute for its own good. Then just OMG…WAY TOO CUTE!
Yeah, this anti pooping outdoors bias really needs to be eliminated. Discrimination against the free poopers needs to be nipped in the bud.
Dammit!
I’m human, I poop. Step off….lemme behave in accordance with my primordial ways.
The other day it was a hot tub party for suicidal people. Now it’s a freedom to poop strike. Man, this is what happens when you get all the crazies together on one website.

Has it always been that way for you?
If you could live for a Fennec Fox named Lupe, would you do that instead?
The world could use more altruism and benevolence, i’m happy for you 🙂
@Bipolar Always? No. I had my times in my past. But now, yes I am. And I don’t see it changing.
@Lorax Hm . . . that is a possibility
@Stendarr’s ***** Thank you 🙂
What does living for others mean?

No, Casual Observer, that is not necessarily true. I don’t care if they think I<< am a failure. I care if they think they<< are a failure.
If you don’t care what other people think, then do what you want without taking their opinions into consideration.
I care what they think of themselves. Life of others goes on when mine ends. And I care about others.

I respect that.
@ Struggle On> You still care what other people think. That’s cool, that’s where you’re at. Good luck.
C4, but dont we all, deep down in every human, dont we all care a little about what people think?
Is caring what other people think of us unacceptable?
I believe we do, no matter how much we deny it. It is human nature after all. Every human action and desire can be explained from an evolutionary standpoint…and the need to be accepted by others is no exception.

Who cares. When I need to take a dump I go without getting caught.
All I’m trying to say is, you can’t deny your nature. Humans were engineered to care about other people’s opinions. It all goes back to evolution.
Okay, no evolution on this post 🙂 Unless it’s the evolution of the fennec fox of course.
What would people think if they caught you pooping? “Oh, my god! It’s not a myth!!!” I blame the Catholic Church for this anti-pooping sentiment.
Well I can tell you all about that, StruggleOn. It started out cute. Then it got cuter. Then just too cute for its own good. Then just OMG…WAY TOO CUTE!
Also, lorax…lol.

You could get a free pooper rally going. Just imagine the signs.
Also, StruggleOn, I apologize for what we have devolved this post into. Bare with us, if you can…lol.
@ TheRiver: Let’s all put our suicide plans on hold and focus on what really matters.
_The right to poop outdoors. _
You with me? Lets do this.
The other day it was a hot tub party for suicidal people. Now it’s a freedom to poop strike. Man, this is what happens when you get all the crazies together on one website.
Dogs do it, so we should, too. They also eat their own poop – who knows, maybe that’s the reason dogs are always so damned happy all the time.
LOL, TheRiver… Don’t worry… I’m sure the festive mood will return in 24 hours.
The two can be combined you know, although I wouldn’t go into that hot tub until after it had been disinfected.
Oh man lorax, idk about the “animals do it, why shouldn’t I?” logic. I see trouble on the horizon.
Ah hello distant.road. One of our hot tub party organizers. The other was Rocketman, I think. That crazy bastard.
Wow – definitely not my intentions, guys.
Sorry, haha. These things tend to go in rather odd directions….
And I also just noticed it all started when lorax came on the scene – of course.
BTW: Fennec foxes are fucking fantastic and fabulous all at once.
