Because Isaiah had no biological mother or father in his life, his grandparents and aunt claimed legal guardianship. Isaiah fears his legal guardians. Why? Because they gave him a lot of ass whoopings he did not deserve. During his elementary school years, Isaiah is bullied, teased, and harrassed constantly by his classmates and students of higher grades. Isaiah taught himself another skill besides lying. He taught himself how to withdraw himself. You see Isaiah knew that people didn’t want to be bothered with him, so he withdrew himself to reduce the chance of adding to the pain he was already enduring. One of the ways that he was bullied was when the bigger, stronger, faster, and overall more popular people belittled him and made him feel as if he didn’t belong. One of the ways he was teased was the constant names he was called and all of the flaws that were constantly pointed out to destroy his sense of belonging even more. One of the ways he was harrassed was how students would often lie or come up with a different way to get him in trouble because they knew that know one would believe him and he would get his ass whooped. One incident was when he was at the age of 8 in the 3rd grade. The teacher takes the students on a bathroom break. The students are constantly instructed on an everyday basis to line up according to height. Apparently a boy who was obviously taller than Isaiah decided that he wanted to be an ass-hole. So this boy stands in the way of Isaiah getting in front of him. As Isaiah, who’s not even touching the boy, tries his hardest to not get in trouble by getting in line, the boy begins to yell out “stop hitting me Isaiah!”. As he says that, the teacher grabs Isaiah by the arm, takes him to the classroom, has the other students outside the room, and she begins to yell at Isaiah for no reason. Isaiah couldn’t even explain himself.
