Whether or not they have a terminal illness, shouldn’t they decide if they want their life to end? People are allowed to have abortions. If you can determine when to end an unborn child’s life, then how come it’s such an issue whether or not we can end our own? If anyone can help me find effective ways to end my life, I would appreciate it greatly. Please email me at ceasethecranium@yahoo.com if you would like to talk about it.

It’s been passed around on here… its a fundamental question of one’s existence. I personally believe that you’re correct in your belief and choosing ones end is a fundamental component to a * * truly** free society.
Of course. Death is everyone’s right.
I totally agree with you.
Very simple: YES YES YES YES YES YES
Yes, yes, and hell yes
I know people think it’s different with the mentally ill because they might be considered incapable of making their own decisions. But at least after certain help or a certain amount of time, I think anyone should have the opportunity to die easily and painlessly. At the very least it shouldn’t be a crime. It’s disgusting when (in my country) people have to go to court for being in terrible situations, like surviving a brutal double suicide with a partner, or helping a loved one to die after a long and painful life. That’s just cruel.
Once there was a brief academic discussion at law faculty on euthanasia. One of the most fundamental human rights is a “right to life”, which includes a right to decide what to do with your own life, including a right to die and another right is a “right to the integrity”, which includes a right for decent death. The problem with assistance is whenever the one who wants to die would choose death if he wasn’t provided with assistance. There was a case in my town, when one girl with her friend, both around 17, wanted to commit a suicide. At first they wanted to go together, but the other couldn’t do it, so the first one helped her. They were found, survived and live on. If she had succeeded, it would basically be a murder, as her friend changed her mind at the last moment. But if they died, we would never know it. A Schrodinger’s cat. You can never know if the dead would change their mind if they survived or if they would attempt it again. So we are left to fend for ourselves with what ever crude method we choose condemning our family or random citizen with the sight that will change their life, if we gather enough courage. I don’t have problem with doing it ourselves, but I would really appreciate if they allowed us a decent departure instead of forcing us to do it in pain and “dirty”.
