Just feeling like nobody cares. Because why would they? What does caring for someone even mean? Why would you waste your time caring for someone you know is a ticking bomb? Is it so that they won’t be one? Why would any of you care about helping me? Why would any of you care about me? You don’t know me. Do we ever actually care about someone we don’t know? We might? But do we? So what if I don’t know myself. Do I care?

I think most people really don’t care, but that’s because they can’t. People here and in the real world like to be supportive and say nice things, but really to care about someone you must have a close personal relationship with them. You can’t just talk to someone for a while and genuinely care about them because you don’t even genuinely know them.
It’s probably misguided for a lot of the people here who come to fill the void in their lives. This is after all just a website on the internet.
I cry bullshit.
…do you use diapers as tissues?
LOL.
“this is after all just a website on the internet”.
have to agree with this completely.
I sort of disagree with the not being able to care about people without having a close personal relationship but i can understand the reasoning behind it. In my case, it sort of works both ways, because i have effectively cared for people that i knew for almost no time at all because we just sort of “clicked” (not talking about sentimental stuff here), and on the other hand, i don’t care for people that i have a personal relationship with that has lasted for years. Sure, that sounds contradictory because why keep a personal relationship if you don’t care?… well, sometimes life picks for you and you have no say.
Internet is different tho. I’d say that people genuinely care about helping someone in difficult circumstances, but not the person itself, because you can’t get to really know who you’re helping with just a few words, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t care about the fact that someone is suffering and needs help. Does it fill a void like AgentQ says? yup, but that void could also be filled in several other ways.
