In my fantasy, technological advancements ultimately are the cause of our complete annihilation. We do ourselves in, we went one gadget too far. No survivors, just the planet, finally free of its human fleas.
I’ve felt for awhile that humanity will end up ruining itself. Still… the governments seem to be prepared for disaster, with all their underground bunkers and what not.
Immortality as in cannot be killed is difficult to believe in. There is an option of indefinite lifespan which means you can live as long as you keep up with the treatments for various old age diseases. Old age is a disease. We seem to have accepted it. Some of us may welcome it. It is physically possible to live as long as you desire. Time travel is also possible though…. we just don’t have the materials.
Death… life…. whatever comes my strategy is to be prepared. If I meet death it will be as an old companion. If I wait a few hundred years to meet him, I think he’d forgive me. As for now I have 55-60 years to figure out if I want to stay or go. I’m allowed to leave when I please so long as I don’t exit directly, that is still frowned upon by society.
