I don’t get the logic when people say life is hard, yet we are not allowed to complain, just grin our teeth, suck it up, etc. Worse is when people force themselves to always be positive, optimistic, & happy, at all costs. That’s a cognitive dissonance, that’s why it feels weird.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never understand why people think it’s just not ok to be upset or pessimistic. Sometimes pessimism makes life easier, because when things turn out ok, it’s unexpected.
I feel like you just explained the theme of Disney’s inside out.
I don’t know, we can see and think about the world a milion different ways. Although usually our suffering exists only in our minds. We think about loss and hurt and jobs and money. And it hurts and it’s overwhelming. But that’s all in our minds usually, in reality we’re like, just fine. It’s like we destroy ourselves with thoughts
Yeah I have been put down many times for being a pessimist but Im really just a realist. I hate the happy fake plastic people with their Cheshire cat smiles. No this isn’t Disney or Hollyweird and there will be no happy endings. The Beaver became a heroin addict after Ward and June divorced and Walley ended up in a mental institution for huffing glue.
