I was going to say no hot water and be melodramatic….. but we have SOME, not even close to enough, and not in the way I need it most……. Our hot water heater decided to take a break on Saturday, I had a plumber out today and in a sane and kind world that would be the end of it….. but I did the stupid thing five years ago and bought a hardware store hot water heater instead of letting the plumber put one of theirs in. Stupid I now find out because for warranty I had to call customer service, half hour on the phone which is my hell…. and now I’ve got to wait up to a week and a half, because they have to ship it.
and I have an electric kettle and stove, so I’m not without hot water entirely, but my dishwasher, washer and shower all need hot water in the pipe…. which I aint got. I can go over to my family’s house and do those things…. but at least with dishes that just isn’t practical at all.
Somehow, it’s fitting. I’m in a pretty cold and inhospitable place emotionally as I wait for an answer on the job applications… someday there’ll be warmth and comfort again, no one can for sure say when, but they say it’s coming….
Soon
Or, as the late great Tom Petty would put it;
What was he even waiting on? Death perhaps? Well, he’s dead now, so I guess he’s not waiting anymore.

I relate to all this. No hot water in the pipes is hard to handle. Thirty minutes with customer service is hard to even contemplate. I see some good parts here. If the water heater had been installed by a pro and it came with long enough warranty that would have been great. If that warranty would have expired by now then you can take pride in your ability to install it and remember saving both the installation cost and the markup pros apply. I recall shelling out around $400 for one 8 years ago and installing it. At that time pros wanted around $1300 for that job around here. It is much more costly now. My brother is a pro and gets 2300$ to install them in the next town over. Sorry about this problem, it is not easy to live with.
