I had my third interview with this defense drone company today. It went well. Makes me a little sick. The people are nice and well meaning. But I did not become an engineer to work for the department of defense. Especially not this administration’s DoD. This particular interview made that even more apparent. I guess I’m a hypocrite for trying to get a DoD fellowship so I could do my PhD. The research proposal of which is still crap by all means. But I was proposing a pipe inspection robot. To help with infrastructure. I don’t want to make things that end up getting people killed. The interviewer mentioned that lives would be saved with this technology. But there is a non zero percent chance that it could also do the opposite. I hate this so much. Those fucking automation companies wouldn’t give me the time of day and now I’m going to be forced to work for this company. Fucking god damnit. Then I’ll stay with the company for years and years and scores of people will die cause of the thing I had a hand in building. Even if it was a finger, it’s a finger too much. I hate this so much.

I hate how so many engineering jobs are stuff like this, I feel you man. I wasn’t an engineer but I worked in PCB Assembly for a little bit and I quit my first job after 2 weeks cause I didn’t wanna deal with it. Worked for a normal company that made commerical products afterwards. Well, until I got fired lol.
