Please don’t do it,
for if you do,
I’ll just say “screw it”
and I will to.
Please don’t do it,
there’s gotta be a way.
I’ve been through it
and lived another day.
Please don’t do it,
I know things are tough.
Maybe I blew it
and did not do enough.
Please don’t do it,
I know that you’re down.
You know that I’ll rue it,
so please stick around.

thanks for the cyberspace

You’re helping more than you know, FTS. When I start getting that urge, I come here hoping to see another one of your poems. I’m sure you’re helping a ton of others too. I know you’re helping me awaken my fighter spirit… every time I think of how close you were to death & how you’re clawing your way back, it make me want to try it too.
I think I saw you post just a minute ago and then draw it back. If they want to revive your project embrace it. Let it give you something for however long as it lasts. When it’s over, then go on from there.
This one was penned in about a minute. I was inspired by your post and then I didn’t see it, so I wanted to get this one out here for you.
You truly have a magic pen. Thanks so much for watching over me, bro.
Yeah, I made that post then felt like an idiot so I deleted it. You’re right, I should go for it. I guess I’m just tired of getting my hopes up, getting disappointed, etc. Last month when I found out they were canning my project it was funny… everyone was all sad, but inside I was thrilled. Sometimes it’s a relief to admit defeat.
Now I find out they’re willing to give it another shot. It’s hard for me to switch gears so fast.
Your post came at the right time. It convinced me, as long as I’m still breathing, I should fight. So I’m going to go there & pitch my sale & see what happens.
I love the line:
“Please don’t do it,
there’s gotta be a way.
I’ve been through it
and lived another day.”
That sums it up, don’t it? Make no big plans, make no grand commitments. Just live another day. Maybe I can handle that. Thanks for being there, buddy.
least I can do my friend. I mean what I say in that poem. You have done so much for me, if I can help then I should.
yup…. day to day… keep saying to yourself, just one more day…. pretty soon, all those “one more”s add up
Hey FTS, I just got back from my interview. I took your advice & embraced it. If they want to pull the plug, so be it, I’ll deal with that later…
Or as you said, “when it’s over, then go from there.”
Day to day, man… Day to day… Thanks for getting me thru this one.
Your welcome Scooby, I’m just glad you got thru it. I don’t know about anyone else, but I have to look for things to get me thru. Look for things that will make me want to reach for that next rung. It just sounded like maybe that was something you could look towards. I’m glad I got lucky enough to see you pull that post 🙂
sometimes it pays to lurk 🙂
You’re definitely fast. I swear I pulled that post 2 sec after I made it!
Yah you said it… Keep looking for something that’ll make you reach for the next rung. I guess my problem is I got this stupid trick ladder where half the rungs are made out of cardboard :/
ha ha…. you’re lucky if only half the rungs are cardboard!
I hope it works out. And if it doesn’t then we’ll look for something else to keep you reaching. You gotta reach tho’. You reach up, and I or someone else will reach down and the next thing you know, you’re further up the ladder, whether the rungs are cardboard or not.
