My English is far from perfect, and even if it was my main language, some things are just offensive, no matter how polite you try to be when you’re telling your opinion about certain behaviors, belief systems, stuff like that, but placing a million disclaimers after each sentence won’t solve anything.
I didn’t read all of the posts here, and I probably won’t bother reading all of them, but it seems to me that most of us here need a real paradigm shift in order to have any chance for happiness. The fact that nobody understands you doesn’t mean that you are a useless idiot, or the society is stupid, mad, insane, hard… It simply means that there is probably something wrong with the form of your communication. If you decide to share the contents of your brain in a poetic/artistic form, most people just won’t get it, because you are using a different language, not the one that most of us understand. It would be awesome if after reading your super-awesome poetry all people in your target audience would fall to their knees and worship you for the rest of your life, but you have to be really good to have that level of success, and it is a dehumanizing state of existence also. You can lose yourself even if you’re successful.
All of us need love and acceptance to live a mentally healthy life. We are social animals, but you can see the same basic behavioral patterns in most of the mammals, even in some birds. Although we need this love/acceptance thingy, if you base your life on someone else, I can almost guarantee you that at some point your life will collapse, because your partner will leave you or disappoint you at the core level.
If you base your life on yourself, it could be uncomfortable at the beginning because of the suddenly emerging feeling of responsibility, and this is the point, where many people fall (back) into religions, new age stuff, and other nonsense, but if you avoid these non-answers, your chances for living a normal life are higher than ever before.
It seems to me that we tend to ask “why” questions instead of “what” and “how” questions. It’s more likely to ask a “why is this happening” question instead of asking a “what is the problem” and “how can it be solved”, but it’s wrong. Why questions just push the whole problem one step back, because they can’t be used to really define anything. You can easily end up in a nonproductive philosophical BS after just asking three or four “why” questions. And it will not solve your problems. “Why” questions can drive you absolutely crazy, because they are loaded with an infinite regression. All the languages that I babble have “why” questions, and probably the reason for this phenomenon is that the “why” question seems to be a shortcut, an interpolation of “what” and “how” questions, a time-saver tool, which has the potential to kill you if your brain is trained to use this imperfect shortcut for problem solving.
Sorry if I offended any of you. Now it’s time for you to offend me. ;P

I understand where you’re coming from and why you’re saying this. I used to be there too. But I think the reason people don’t understand our poetry and stuff is because they haven’t been here before.
That’s just my opinion too.
Not offended here. In fact I agree with you 99%. I like people who speak their mind. Not many have the guts to do so, instead they just follow the norm of what society perceives as ‘right’. Anyways take care mwm. Btw what does ‘mwm’ stand for? If you don’t mind me asking of course. xP I’m outties~
Hmm, I’m interested in that one percent that we disagree about. Maybe I’ll learn something important. Maybe that’s what I need to change my life. 🙂 My first and last name starts with an M, mwm is just m with m. Doesn’t really mean anything.
It means M&M, in other wors it means Eminem!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
Ah I see. So that’s what it stands for, your name. Hahaha ‘Eminem’! 😛
It is true that most people won’t fully understand emotions/train of thoughts that are expressed artistically. However there is a probability for them to have an.. epiphany of a single moment. No matter how brief I believe something can register in your brain which will allow you to understand a piece of art/poetry if even for a fleeting second. Heh, that is all.
Hehe, that’s a good one. 😛 I’m listening “25 to life” now. His voice sounds somewhat different than years ago. It sounds similar to an other rapper’s voice who probably gets his inspiration from conspiracy theorist nutjobs. 😀
Well, if we talk in probabilities, I cannot really say that I disagree with you, but if I look at my own experiences, It cannot really agree actually. It’s possible that I misinterpreted what you wrote, and basically my whole point boils down to this. We sample the outside world slightly differently, and our brain chemistry is a constantly changing turbulent system, so when our brains put together the model of reality, your model will be different from my model. And this doesn’t mean that we cannot have similar experiences. We are both humans, we probably have somewhat similar goals, problems, environment, but maybe I just can’t understand the music or poetry that you like, maybe it drives me crazy, and vice versa. 🙂 I hope this makes some sense.
No problem. It makes sense. Lol so long as you’re not a complete airhead haha! xD
Ooh I’ve heard that song. Bought Eminem’s recent album actually to check out that genre of music bcuz I’ve never listened to that style before. Not bad, heh.
Poetry is misunderstood due to personal interpretation. Each person interprets what they see, read, or hear differently than another. This is also in life, which is why there are a lot of miscommunication. Poetry isn’t universally understood due to the vast variety of cultures, ideas, and mind set.
I agree on your viewpoint, however, not all humans are plagued by the “why”. Even the “what” and “how” can cause one to be distress just as much as the “why”.
