Does anyone here believe depression/suicidal thoughts is something that can be fully controlled by medication and therapy or can even be cured, or is it something people just say yes to, to get pchycologists and psychiatrists off there back?
I think it CAN be cured by meds and such but there are other factors such as how willing the patient is to be helped and whether the med is just a placebo.
Im not sure but im more than willing to be helped. Im desperate for help. Im sick of living this way. I cant take anymore. Watever I have to do to get help as long as its within my control. But I dont have insurance or a lot of money. How do I get help???
Things can be managed…being cured, only the person can know what constitutes a cure.
Often the people treating others are using their yardstick to measure what would be considered as progress….the whole approach is longing for leading edge and out of the box awareness.
The only thing medication ever did for me was make me a drone.
Synthetic happiness.
Not even happiness.
Synthetic day to day motions.
What good is anything faked?
Mind over matter.
None of them. Medicine and therapy can’t solve depression and/or suicidal thoughts completely. I think they’re like a first step and are supposed to get you out of the worst part. After that you have to be strong yourself. To completely remove the problem you have to believe yourself and fight against it.
That is what I think.
Whether or not your depression can be successfully treated depends on many factors. There are many medical problems that can cause depression. In those cases, the underlying cause of the depression needs to be treated.
If you have depression, which is not related to a general medical condition, then you should probably see a psychiatrist (if you can afford it). You could benefit from antidepressants or mood stabilizers.
Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison, the author of “The Suicidal Mind”, said that the best drug for suicide prevention is lithium. This may be true if your suicidal ideation is caused by bipolar disorder.
Before you decide to kill yourself, you should explore all available treatment options for depression.
Unfortunately, psychotherapy is prohibitively costly for most people. Your primary care physician may be willing to prescribe medication for depression.
I have tried many antidepressants (SSRIs, SSNRIs, tricyclics, tetracyclics), but I could not tolerate the side effects these drugs can produce. Everyone responds to these drugs differently. They may work for some but not others. Some people can tolerate the side effects of the drugs, others cannot.

Do whatever works for you.
