I came across this picture of a widely known celebrity that is not only considered a sex symbol, but is also very well respected because of his talent. Who wouldn’t want to be him? Now, I bet you anything, that if he were to be one of your classmates today, he would most likely be a bullying target. Don’t you think? When you say you are reluctant to think your situation will ever change and that you’re ugly, please think of him:

Good find, and i get what your saying. But, Just because someones deemed “ugly” or unattractive doesn’t mean they get bullied. Or maybe it does, i dont know.
@Alwaysalone22, I am sure it’s not always the case, but most bullying victims get to feel “fat” and “unattractive” because of some nonsense harassment. There are many ugly duckling stories out there and many of those who weren’t popular in school, rule this world today.

Nick Cage is one of the most highest paid and successful actors. Whenever I watch one of his films I often wonder why he is paid so much to act like a depressed alcoholic in every film when I am a depressed alcoholic and don’t get paid anything. I mean, what’s so good about Nick Cage, he has limited ability, he’s boring and has a voice that would put anyone to sleep. If you saw that guy in the street, what is it about him that makes him such a high profile celebrity. Nothing.
So, what can we learn from Nick Cage? If you have no talent, looks or personality you can still become one of the most famous celebrities in the world. If he can do it, anyone can.
Lol! That’s so true! I feel the same way about Adam Sandler. I don’t get how he’s “up there”. He should be famous as well.
Thanks for the list Swan, but there were only 2 on there maybe 3 that i felt really looked any different at all. The russel brand was a real shocker though.
I think it’s because we are trained as children to find the weak…and to dominate them, otherwise we will be seen as weak and then dominated. So bullies either act out of ambition or fear. It is how they identify weakness that decides who the victims of bullying will be. They are taught to value beauty and value money. Beauty is unique in that there is no real objective way to define it. (spare me the ‘science’ of symmetry) If you’re rich, you get a pass; if you are charismatic, you get a pass. The rest of us better hope we don’t end up with the wrong crowd, otherwise we could get labelled: ‘ugly,’ which equals ‘target’. I was not a lucky one. (at least until I got old enough for the media to decide for the masses that I was, in all likelihood, attractive.–lucky me)
It is sick and perverted to train up children that way, but look at how culture defines success? By power. Be beautiful, charismatic, rich or ruthless and thus become powerful.
If we could only undo the stigma that we’ve attached to ourselves, we could break the hold that bullying has on us. I, in fact, am still a victim of bullying from time to time…likely because I allow myself to be. I don’t know how to be anything else. I feel weak. I feel ugly. I feel fat. (I’m actually pretty chubby now; but even when I wasn’t, I still felt that way) I feel useless. I’ve felt this way since I first started school…even in kindergarten. I got singled out by the class bully and ended up in the principles office for beating her fist up with my face, after deciding not to give her my crayon. (yes, it was a girl) It was all downhill from there.
woof! I think I’m getting dizzy from being up on this soapbox for so long.

I wonder if Clooney stood up for himself and got support for doing so and what kind of difference that made.
He just needs a make over.Mainly the haircut and glasses.Who is he?
@ swan yeah, Adam Sandler is another one. When you think about it there are a lot of actors and television people that have built careers on poor acting skills. But that’s not what I find surprising, it’s the fact they they don’t appear to have any other redeeming qualities.
I get what you mean, but what about other causes? what about breakups? family? It isnt always bullying. I have now been driven to deep dark depression and I want to die, but it isn’t just being bullied that drove me here.
