Hi, I know it’s still a week away, but Happy Winter Solstice to everyone. I love this day because it’s the day in the northern hemisphere when the days start getting longer. Not by much, mind you, but a little every day. I am planning a party for the night before…. probably will eat too much. I’ve got a bottle of chocolate wine saved just for the occasion. I plan to build a fire in the fire pit out in the back yard and meditate on the solar new year, the darkness I want to discard, and the returning light. I’ll play my drum alone and the neighbors will probably call the cops, but so be it. I might order a pizza. Hell, I just want to celebrate the return of the sun.
The only thing that sucks is I am alone. I miss having parties and having people over. I miss serving food because I love to bake. I miss having friends. I miss being around other people who also love to watch the sun rise and who are excited for the changing of the seasons and the new year. Hell, I miss people, period. I don’t have any friends.
I am sick to death of being alone, but regardless, I am still going to celebrate the Solstice. As part of my ceremony, I will wish positive energy and send love out to all of you here who want it.

Hello Elliecats,
You’ve made me totally jealous. Any chance you live near me? My fire pit and ravine terrace won’t be done till Spring now…I would love to join you. I also look forward to more daylight and take this opportunity to leave something old and tired behind and try to grow in a new way. I think we may have waaayyy too much in common for your own good…haha Any chance you are in Canada?
Happy Winter Solstice…I was born on the Autumn Equinox myself
Thank you for the positive energy and light…and back at ya
Amakua
OOOOH…random question…did you happen to see the Geminid meteor shower the other night?
sounds very nice
Hi Amakua, I live in Ohio – depending on what part of Canada you’re in, we may or may not be close by each other. Probably not close enough to celebrate the Solstice, which is too bad, but you would be welcome and I wish you could come. 🙂 That’s so cool you were born on the Equinox!
I did not see the Geminids this time. How were they?? I saw the Orionid meteor shower a few years back and it was totally far out. I was camping in the middle of nowhere and was pretty intoxicated, so I thought it was even cooler. I used to teach astronomy to kids. It was so cool to see their faces when they saw Jupiter up close in a telescope.
Being in Canada, have you ever seen the Northern Lights? If so, I am very, VERY jealous!! 🙂
Hey Elliecats,
If I climb up the cliffs…I can see Ohio from here on a clear day…I shit you not…hahaha Cool I was born on the Equinox…hahaha…you don’t get any cuspier than me…but I would say rather…confused…instead of cool…haha
The Geminids were awesome this year…cold, clear skies…a new moon and Jack’s yer uncle…light show. I don’t drink myself…but have a scrip for medical marijuana…so everything is just a little bit cooler…hahaha
Start getting jealous…lol…I have in fact seen the Northern Lights…here. I have also seen them in Bobcaygeon…up north…it was spectacular…but kinda creepy…haha Spent the night laying on a lounge chair and passing the leftie. It was a once in a lifetime moment for me. The sky in Bobcaygeon is so big…no light pollution to speak of. Actually the Tragically Hip wrote a song about Bobcaygeon and the big sky there.
So why don’t you have any friends? You seem very nice to me. Are you a Spiritualist as well?
Here if you want to talk
