User muspelhem posted this in a comment earlier today – it’s a good read and worth the few minutes it takes to read and ponder objectively –

For the record – I’m an atheist – but that doesn’t change the relevance of the following parable:
Crosses To Bear
A young man was at the end of his rope, seeing no way out, dropped his knees in prayer. “Lord, I can’t go on,” he said. “I have too heavy of a cross to bear.”
The Lord replied, “My son, if you can’t bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish.”
The man was filled with relief said, “Thank you, Lord,” and he did as he was told.
Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. “I’d like that one Lord,” he whispered. And the Lord replied, ” My son, that is the cross you just brought in.”
When life’s problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate that you imagined.
Everyday I work with a guy who gets mad at silly things … we drive to a job and on the way he gets angry – and i mean spitting mad yelling angry at cars driving to slow or whatnot in front of us – and while he’s yelling for them to get the f–k out of the way – i quietly drive – nice and calm … why?  … because beyond the slowpoke – is 6 other cars going about the same speed – all headed towards a red light that I WILL have to stop at – oh sure – i could jump on the gas pedal and speed past the slowpoke, and waste extra gas and get all in a tizzy too – but i STILL have to stop at the red light
The old geezer saying – slow and steady wins the race – is true – you WILL get there … but it requires a decision and some determination to start AND finish the journey … there’s a reason we don’t walk backwards, drive cars backwards and time goes in one direction etc. Â – all are either difficult, impractical or just impossible – so in life, stop holding on to the past, quit trying to travel back to where you can never be again.
Do we all have problem, hurdles, difficulties, crosses, roadblocks – of course … of COURSE we do – we ALL do – but with slow, careful, purposeful determination we can work our way through the hazards of the detours until we find a safer and clearer path to move forward on
Leave the past where it belongs – in the annals of history … and go FORWARD and MAKE history – NEW and POSITIVE history for yourself – but remember – that choice is yours – and your’s alone – and no one else will be to blame and it will be your cross to bear.

Good post. I appreciate the people who make an effort to post productive stuff here.
Hello stranger.
Is this a Marxist arguement? That we are born to produce, and therefore if we can’t fulfil that destiny, that makes us unhappy?
Anyway, in my case it’s true, and I think true for any creative person – if you don’t have a creative outlet that’s when things go astray
Yes – of COURSE i’m pushing and preaching marxist communism (eyeroll/sarcasm) … the point is that happiness and prosperity will not fall into your lap out of the clear blue sky – even winning the lottery requires you to purchase a ticket – and purchasing a ticket requires a cash dollar … once upon a time i sat depressed and immobilized because i couldn’t find a job in my chosen profession at the time … and someone said – “i know a guy who runs a restaurant – tell him i sent you and he’ll put you to work washing dishes” … at first i was disgusted, angry and humiliated … then after a couple days of thought – i had an epiphany – even the worst most distasteful jobs generate positive cash flow!
Did the job pay enough to fill my needs? no way – but it DID pay something – and just because you owe $1000, does NOT make earning $10 a waste of time … $10 is en lottery tickets … or 2-3 gallons of gas/petrol (in the US) … a loaf of bread and some peanut butter … it’s SOMETHING … and that is more than nothing … no matter how you look at it.
I ended up working at that restaurant for 3 years – mostly as a cook – i only washed dishes for a couple months before they appreciated my work ethic and offered me better opportunities – i didn’t know how to “cook” before that, so all those opportunities were not possible before i took the dish washing job … i was able to do that same thing several years later when i needed work in a bad economy – it didn’t pay all the bills – but i did help feed me and my dogs at the minimum – which was better than giving up the mutts and going hungry.
FYI – I’m well aware that many people have other issues that might prevent them from doing certain things – my points fit where they fit, and don’t fit where they don’t – but you have to be honest with yourself
sudsy dawg
PS – good to “see” you one_day 😉
