This old world can be a very lonely place. When struggle and strife come upon us, it seems to get even more lonely. But we have choice. We can either keep our heads down as we walk and miss out on somethings right before us. An example is this past Monday. I saw the most amazing sight in the morning looking to the east. I was waiting for the transit to come pick me up for work as I live a bit out in the country. The sky was clear except for some clouds way off on the horizon. But there is was. The most beautiful full rainbow on a clear blue sky. I just stood there and stared at it and very faintly I could see the second rainbow. It was just there for a few moments and then it was gone and my ride showed up. A song sung in my church came to mind. I walk by faith, each day by faith, to live by faith, I put my trust in you. Every step I take is a step of faith and no weapon formed against me shall prosper. It repeats and then says If my God is for me then who can be against me. When you really get that into your heart and believe, you don’t feel so alone anymore and it becomes clear that you do have a purpose for being here and you weren’t just some random accident. Suffering and a broken heart is what produces the kind of humbleness that brings us to our knees so we can say, your way Father and not mine. Life takes on a whole new meaning and a whole new adventure begins. Or we can choose to just let the emptiness and darkness take us down. The choice is ours. But the answer is out there, you just have to look up to see the rainbow.
Instead of cutting, try tattoos. I get the same pleasure from tattoos as I did cutting if not more, a tattoo can last for hours. An instead of hiding scars you can show off beautiful artwork.
