Is it weird that I cut myself with a guitar pick rather than a knife or razor? A guitar pick isn’t sharp at all but I can still manage to dig it into my skin just enough to make it bleed. The mark that’s left behind heals really quickly and is practically gone within 6 hours or so. I like doing this so I can cut myself at school and the mark will be gone by the time I get home so my parents don’t find out… I miss using knives and razors but I’m getting kind of use to this alternative.

A guitar pick? I don’t cut anymore but I used to cut myself with knives, blades, nails… I used to cut at school too, I had a blade with me 24/7.
Really, a guitar pick it sounds new haha.
@Tristeza I play guitar. No one suspects a thing 🙂 I have a razor in my backpack as well, but it would just bleed a lot and leave a mark for a while.
@darkwillow *i took forever to reply, im sorry – facepalm*
Ah, I can play piano but Im not very good. Im not very good at making music. Just listening to music is enough for me (:
What kind of music you play?
I would sometimes cut myself with not-very-sharp things, too, I just liked the “effort” I had to make to see the blood.
I don’t think i’ve ever managed to complete a string-change without either cutting or stabbing myself at least once. I started playing guitar ~22 years ago, so that’s a lot of strings. I haven’t touched it in about a year. I’m due for a new set of strings, too. I’ve been putting it off, since i don’t really feel like playing lately.
Guitar picks, though, are usually rather blunt… though repeated use can sort of sharpen them, over time.
Why not just play guitar until your hands burn and your fingers bleed? Who knows, instead of cutting, you might end up with a best-selling album.
@Tristeza You should practice piano more. You can get better at it and then maybe write some good music. Who knows, maybe you’ll publish something or get a job working as in a band. And I like to play all kinds of music, but I mainly practice in classical finger-style guitar. My favorite songs to play are Classical Gas and Nothing Else Matters.
@ihappentobehere That’s another good thing about it because I feel less weak when I use something not as sharp. A guitar pick hurts a lot more too because of how much pressure you have to put on it to cut through your skin, but I don’t mind.
@clevermane I do play a lot to the point where my wrists are constantly burning every second of the day. Part of the reason is because I take piano lessons for an hour every day and play guitar for at least 2 hours a day. And guitar picks aren’t really sharp, but they still work. If they were any sharper, they’d probably leave a long mark or scar and then the whole point of using a pick would be useless.
