Hi all! I am in an English 102 class and I need to pick a topic that interests me, I will be writing multiple papers on this one topic so it is of utmost importance that I am passionate about the topic. I am really intrigued by mental illness and how society affects the recovery process. I am fascinated by mental illness in general as I have suffered from anxiety, depression, and an eating disorder while maintaining my happy and intelligent persona. I would really love to incorporate mental illness into my topic, I was wondering if anyone had any specific ideas for me. For example my first idea is societal influences on mental illness recovery. My second is how technology has affected suicide. It can’t just be a flat out topic, mental illness, it has to be a question or ask how one thing affects another. I’m stuck as of now so any help would be appreciated! 🙂

How technology has affected suicide… what a great topic. I say go with that. Were you thinking along the lines of methods? Or how technology causes suicide (like for example cyber bullying)? Either way it sounds really interesting and I hope you can share your research with us 🙂
I was thinking about both of those things and also how technology has helped people deal with suicidal thoughts. For example, without technology you couldn’t google suicidal helplines or find websites like this to share your thoughts and stories. Many people may feel more alone, more depressed, and they would be more likely to commit suicide. I don’t know, there’s so much potential for a topic like that!
Very true, how could I miss that aspect?? Yeah this forum right here is a great example. I wonder if you could somehow get statistics on whether people who have the internet are less likely to commit suicide because of the help thats available. Very cool subject ya got.
