Only once was I given the opportunity to fire an Arctic Warfare 7.62 sniper fitted with a suppressor. Target was ~400 metres away, wind was good, target at eye level. After applying aim off, I held steady and let my finger gently squeeze the trigger back…ever…so…softly…
*KER-POW*
The shot rung out with the sound of a miniature thunderclap, only then did I realise the true purpose of the suppressor; to hide the muzzle flash. They laughed when I jolted from the sheer sound of the rifle. Silence is golden, but sometimes you need to “go loud”.

noisy neighbours? babies crying? ungrateful wife?
It is true these things are unbearable and can drive a poor man to suicide.
Silence can be nice sometimes. Unfortunately for me, it’s often difficult to find. Even the Library no longer enforces a peaceful standard.
Silence is where all sounds begin. Silence is where all sounds return. It is the beginning and the end.
Push me and then just touch me
Till I can get my silence
One hand clapping to
applaud the sound of silence.
Absence of noise. Bliss.
