I’ve been hearing of allot of suicides in the news lately, allot of young people too.Jumping from a building and in front of a train are the preferred methods. This is a bigger problem than I thought. Why does life suck so much?
The strange thing is . . . I never thought it was a big deal before I got majorly depressed (about three years ago). Then I watched a suicide. And then I began feeling suicidal myself. And that’s when the real fear set in. That is when I realized it IS a bigger problem then people think it is.
Life sucks for many, many different reasons. (Most people claim it is Many reasons, in the end I wonder if it’s all just One reason)
And I can also quote what Engeltje just said. ‘society makes it even worse . . .’ Or sometimes, society just makes it in the first place.
Suicidal mentality is induced by innumerable variables aggregating to create stress significant enough to go beyond the natural “fight or flight” reaction. It can accrete slowly or be precipitated immediately. (Although the authenticity of immediate suicidal intentions can be argued) Life objectively doesn’t suck, it’s how people react to life’s circumstances which creates the subjective illusion that life sucks. By saying that I’m not invalidating anyone nor saying that their reaction is abnormal or ridiculous, it’s just the way it is. The more appropriate way of phrasing this could be “Life’s circumstances suck” as I’m sure many would be alleviated of their depression if they were not at the mercy of the reasons engendering it.
You heard about a suicide on the news? What country do you live in?
Never heard about a suicide on the news in my 22 years on earth.. both in russia and the netherlands.
Suicide has pretty consistent numbers through the years. There’s fluctuations but they are relatively the same percentages year after year. Maybe you’re just paying closer attention.
I’m from NYC,There have been allot here lately,if you read the New York post (online) you will find an article about 10 or so suicides in the “financial world” since the year started.

Life sucks, because it’s life. And oh, society makes it even worse…
