I born on a tiny sized country which is on very small planet which revolves around average sized star on this galaxy.
Since we humans really don’t have chance to decide on where to take birth, how you should look like, amount of intelligence, and amount of money required…Unfortunately I took birth on this planet and live in some human named place called “San Francisco”
Anyway, nah, i don’t think anyone ever becomes suicidal just because they’re super smart. An intelligent person would likely need other reasons in addition to the burden of exceptional intelligence. If you’re “very intelligent” but nothing else is wrong, you’ll figure out how to make life worth living.
Yes, but intelligent people are often socially isolated, bullied by jealous people etc. etc. Probably still not a reason to commit suicide? It depends on many other factors of course.
I wonder if the smarter you are, the more you’re stuck in your head, which means you over-think and dwell upon every little thing. This might lead you to depression and suicide.
On the other hand, the dumber you are the more you would just roll with life. La la la…whateverrrr.
You would think there might be a positive correlation, but just remember George Bush. Frankly I’m amazed he hasn’t had a mental breakdown yet. Maybe he has, it was just covered up because he’s a former president and whatnot. I know he felt really bad about a lot of stuff when he got out of office and I think that’s understandable.
I think it’s a bunch of factors, not limited to locus of control, ability to feel self-contained rather than hitching one’s self-worth on external factors, and the ability to stay curious. IMO, that last one’s a big one, and I imagine all of that is true no matter how intelligent a person may be.
No, I don’t think being super smart makes people want to kill themselves. But arrogance might lead to frustration which might lead to suicide, i.e. “I’m so smart, why won’t the idiots listen to me??!” *BANG*
I’ve always told myself, if I’m smart I should be able to figure out a way to find satisfaction in life. No luck yet, so that means I’m still a dumbass.

Our star is actually pretty tiny compared to a lot of the others we can observe.

Then it’s not the intelligence but the social isolation which makes you depressed.
