A lot.. See I am beginning to wonder about myself and some people out there like me or if there are any.. I always play out all these scenarios in my head of how I could die.. Like piecing a puzzle together only I’m speedy at it and I always think of new things. It’s like an obsession? It’s making me wonder like what if all this is some sort of calling? What if some ppl are born to die? Born to think these things and feel this way? I’m so confused?!
I don’t think that people are necessarily born this way, but I do believe that we can get caught on these thoughts, and they cycle so much that we begin to tell ourselves that they’re true. It isn’t a calling, it’s your brain playing a terrible trick on you. You aren’t alone in these beliefs, however…I used to think this when I was far more depressed.
Yes, but you see if had these since I was like 15.. I’m now approaching 24 and all they do is get more in detail more vivid and more fast approaching..I can think of like 6 scenarios within a 3 hr period.. I am thinking it’s linked to me not having my license like I’m afraid to get them because I know in my heart I’ll possibly drive off the road and while I wouldn’t mind being dead I’d hate to cause someone else’s death..
Sorry, I hit the enter button too quickly. Write the scenarios out in a private journal, start monitoring the thoughts. You need to find what triggers them in the first place, work from there.
Cyclic thoughts. If you suffer from depression or other conditions of the same ilk, chances are pretty high that you are getting caught in obsessive thought loops.
DarkestRaven,
CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, has been known to help with reoccurring thoughts, or obsessions. As someone with ocd that suffers from horrific reoccurring thoughts, that is what was recommended for me though I am sure it would do wonders for you as well.
I’m not really one for “therapy” not because I don’t think it could help but because i feel like those ppl will judge me and only look at me like I’ve lost all sanity. I feel like Id become their “lunch break joke”
I can understand your trepidation but it is really hard to overcome reoccurring thoughts on your own. Also, trust me when I say that therapists deal with a lot of people on a daily basis with their own unique “insanities” and most of them, god willing, really do want to help. If you decide the path of self help though, perhaps research CBT methods on your own. Best of luck.
I’m just horrible with putting things verbally into words.. I get so nervous when I’m around ppl face to face.. I feel like I can’t breath.. I went to someone once and it took everything in me for them to only respond by saying “I don’t think I can help you, your problems are beyond my level. You need to seek further areas” what does that even mean?! I feel like they’re basically telling me “you’re too fucked up and not worth my time”
I’m not sure what kind of “professional” told you that but clearly they are not qualified to help you anyway. I suggest having an evaluation by a psychiatrist and go from there, if you can find it in you to speak to someone. Social anxiety is difficult to overcome. However, I am not saying that a mental health facility can fix everything. It works for some people. Others such as myself, not so much. It’s worth a shot and at least no one can say you didn’t seek help.

Well, you need to start working on strategies to get rid of them.
