You think it’s just physical
The cookie cutter arms
The chopping board thighs
But there is a battle
A battle beyond the realm of chemistry
Beyond the realm of physical sight
It’s invisible but tangible as you cringe away from the presence
From the presence of this spiritual battlefield under wraps
Felt but not seen
Experienced yet never fully understood
Ever present, ever active
The spiritual warfare waging in our midst
Cookie cutter arms
Chopping board thighs
You keep your distance and avert your eyes
Yet you don’t know why
There is a battle waging
Beyond the corner of your eyes
But there is only reason to fear
If you won’t rise up and be the Bride.
Look past the cookie cutter arms.
Look past the chopping board thighs.
See the pain in their eyes
And hold them tight.
Fight the battle.
Stop averting your eyes.

Safehaven, I just wanted to say that I LOVE this writing!!!! It has been my hearts cry for years now!!!! And so very well written!! You did an amazing job!!!! I do not understand though why it is so hard for people to understand this though. I know if I ever met someone like this I would not turn them away and as one of them I wish people wouldn’t do the same to me and all of us who are like this!!!! Have a wonderful day!!!!
Thank you, Lost26!! I am so glad that someone could identify!! Yes I’ve understood for about a year now that this is so much more than chemistry, so much more than just the physical. People don’t understand why that stigma is there, but this is why. I was a cutter for about 11 years, as well as very suicidal. But these battles can be defeated! But only if we know it for what the real battle is!! My heart is so burning for other people who are going through it, though. I can’t sit back and just be satisfied with being okay. Too many people are still in pain and too many other people are so ignorant that they hurt instead of help. I don’t want to live my life on the sidelines. Thank you for writing : ) I think you are very strong! I love that you have the spirit to help others even when you are having a hard time yourself. I always wanted to do that, too. You are an overcomer!!
