OMG…laughing here. Exactly my question. Hate people, but lonely!! I’ve been trying to work that one out for what seems to be centuries. Maybe a pet? For me, there came a time when I just accept being alone most of the time. Most of the time people just muck things up, so, I’m leery and hesitant when someone waltzes into my life. I don’t have an answer for you. We all seem to work things out if we hang in long enough.
Try to find a few people you like, and/or maybe get a pet as Randall suggested. There are billions of human beings in the world, chances are there might be a couple out there who may annoy you less than everyone else. Look for others who think similarly to yourself, it’s easier to get along with them that way.
I hope you like solo sojourns into the forest as much as I do, since that’s where you’ll end up spending most of your time. Or six feet under. It depends on your whole outlook on things. People such, but I usually don’t mind spending time with one person. Too many though and it just overwhelms me.

I’m in that famous juxtaposition. I both hate people, but find them fascinating.
I’m lonely even though I am surrounded by people who care. So I guess it depends on the kind of loneliness.
Either way, you have a friend here.
Keep your stick on the ice.

Maybe that’s the secret — don’t be overwhelmed.
