ive been referred to four different organisations for mental health over the last 5 years. none of which have worked. only had one session with my new NHS woman but I haven’t much hope. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety and all they seem to care about is the anxiety. that’s the least of my worries. ive been suicidal before, and I still have suicidal tendencies which I am struggling to supress. I need help but they don’t seem to want to get to the issues that are deeply effecting me. is there anywhere that works (UK based) or any methods (currently on CBT) or any way of just getting them to listen and help. next session is on Thursday.

I hope you don’t mind me commenting, because I don’t have any practical advice – just wanted to say I’ve been in almost the same situation and I know how frustrating it is. I would look into other therapies for depression that you could bring up with a GP. When it was me I just went along with them and focused on anxiety – I’d advise doing the opposite. Tell them you want to work on what’s troubling you the most first and that’s that. If you’re doing an NHS course you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of it. You can try the techniques yourself for other issues, but they’re meant to be helping you. Have you mentioned being suicidal? If you bring that up and say depression is the worst trigger, hopefully they’ll feel obliged to pay attention and switch focus to that.
