I don’t know about the rest of you, but if I could choose the year in which I was born, I would have chosen the date January 31st, 2997. What about you, would you keep your original birthdate or would you rather have been born a later time? Weird and confusing question I know.

2997? But you have no idea what Earth will be like then and if the human race will even still exist.
I’m fine with when I was born. There are pros and cons to any time period, but thankfully more pros to the 20th and 21st century that I can see, compared to when humans didn’t have technology and internet.
I see it as before I was born, I had ZERO idea what was going on in any way, shape, or form. So if the human race were to be extinct, it would be as if I was asleep for all eternity. I know that I have no idea what life will be like a few hundred years from now. I say 2997 because it would be first 998 years from my actual birth year,1999(maybe I should’ve chosen 2999 so it would be 100) lol. And seeing how all the shit went down in the 21st century, and all the people I have seen and dealt, I guess it would be interesting to learn about what happened in the 21st century in school. But you’re right I have no idea what will happen in that time period. I guess I just hate my life so much that I want another shot at it, but that won’t happen I know.
*1000 sorry math error lol.
later…society is currently fucked
we ll learn more in a few years….so yea…
I doubt that. Do you not watch movies about the apocalyptic and dystopian future we have ahead of us? Hell I’m scared shitless of being tortured in the is life when theyou come after us all.
Society being screwed, part of the reason I have been meaning to kill myself successfully for quite sometime. All attempts failed of course.
I’d be more likely to choose a time in the past than in the future.
Interesting why? Economy was better? What time period Trix. I have been seeing a lot of your comments for quite sometime….
Actually, I was going to say something really similar to Mf’s comment. 🙂 People lived more naturally in the past, which I think has much more of a positive effect on mental and physical health than people tend to think. Like Optimus said though, there are pros and cons to any time period. There were so many young and sudden deaths in the past, but even so, I think people might have been happier. And there are a *lot* of deaths and illnesses caused by modern ways of living too (e.g. the stress, depression, diets etc that come with it) which can be reversed just be living at a slower pace, eating real food and water, spending less time alone or indoors and so on. I think we overestimate the positive effects that the modern world has on society. I think most people will disagree, but that’s how I tend to see it.
Hey… i guess insane minds think alike? lol.
It’s my birthday today.
Happy birthday Salesman, I hope you find what you are looking for today 🙂
Sorry. I shouldn’t have posted this in your comments. I don’t want to take away from what you were saying. I just thought it was interesting that I logged on and your post was the first and it was about birthdays.
Happy birthday, Salesman. 🙂
+1 on the happy birthday wishes, hope you have a good (or at least endurable/decent) day 🙂
Happy birthday fellow November baby!
Most likely i’d pick a time period somewhere before the industrial revolution. Sure, you lived less and some illnesses could kill you out of the blue, but i sort of feel that most of common health issues (both physical and psychological) of the current times are not such a good trade for the technology and longevity-of-life we have nowadays (even if more people seem to think otherwise and would most likely disagree with me).
I would pick to be born in like the 40s or 50s. My grandmother loved it . She said it was the best time to live, and everyone was good people. And then live through the 70s and 80s. I always loved music from back in the day , I always find my self getting along better with older folks because we have similar music taste . Or I would of chosen to live in like the 1500s… I loved history and a lot of very known people were born then . Nostradamus for example . I’m obsessed with him .
23 October, 2077. In Vault 23. 11 men, 11 women and a baby no older than a day. They’ll stay sealed for 23 years at which point the vault will open and… Yeah, I’ll finish the rest later.
Because 23 theory.
…and The Great War.
Being born into a different time period would no make any difference to me. I need to be born into a different body.
Whatever date they discover that pi actually repeats.
I figure I’ll be kept in a state of permanent nonexistence or there will be a bigger understanding of life, so suffering will be minimal.
Neverary 31st 198none
I wouldn’t choose to be born and I like being a Sagittarius so I would keep my birthday as 11/30. I’m not sure if I would choose to be born earlier like my mom’s generation, be born in 57 (she’s born in 58) so I could grow up and live as a young adult through the hippie times and be a hippie. (Unlike my mom who grew up a total conservative.) Or if I would be born in 83 in the same area as the guy I like so I could’ve grown up with him. But who knows he was a skinny kid and I always looked for the biggest boy in school…
Hm. Do I get to take all the knowledge with me? If I do then I’d choose to be born the same year and do it really smart all over again.
If now, I’ll take 2005. I rather like technology and with my health issues I would be dead before age 30 either in childbirth or one of my other health conditions.
Now if I get to have no health conditions I’d choose maybe the Heian period. I’d like to be a warrior or something. I’d rather like to ride around on a horse shooting arrows at people. Plus the outfits were totally badass.
Read Samurai. Warrior Samurai. Plus I would get to pee standing up, so there is that too.
I have a desire to live in mid 1800s. Pioneers inspire me.
You’re a nice guy, friend.
Interesting comments from all of you 🙂 I have been reading other posts on SP so I haven’t had time to reply to any of these comments here.
I seem to feel that I should have been in a past time period. Not the 20th century. And yeah happy birthday.
