I go into the hospital tomorrow morning for some tests.
One of them is a dexamethasone suppression test to see if I have Cushing’s Disease, the other is to see if I still have Osteomalacia. (Not osteoporosis but osteomalacia).
I’ll find out the results next week, plus I’m hoping they’ll start investigating the tumor in my head which showed up on the x-ray about 2 years ago. (Yeah, they’re taking their time with that for some reason).
If the worst-case scenario happens with the tumor, I may not even have to worry about suicide after all.. my body will self-destruct all on its own.
Still can’t decide whether that would be a good thing or not.

Speak English doctor, we ain’t scientists.
Hope it goes well. Maybe it’s not a tumor. Maybe it’s a sack of happy thoughts of puppies and shit? Or my car keys? The battery cover off the remote?
Or maybe that sock I was looking for this morning.
@alan and hazy: You should start a list, so I know what stuff to look for.
thanks for sharing… i hope i dont sound weird… you have been a really good addition to SP… i myself would not like you to be dead but idk i dont want to sound selfish
Awww!
Thank you.
That’s one of the sweetest things I’ve heard all day long, actually: “I myself would not like you to be dead.” 🙂
Funny but true.
I don’t want you to be dead either!! 🙁
I hope your lab tests go well.
*hugs*
Thank you for not wanting me to be dead! 🙂
Hi Cordless. I’m one of those people that lurk on SP and barely ever post. I’m a big fan of yours. I hope everything goes well tomorrow. Medical testing is very annoying. I had a brain tumor that required surgery and I also work in medicine (or did before I became unemployed). The reason they probably aren’t doing anything about your tumor is because it isn’t causing any symptoms and apparently isn’t growing. They should at least be doing repeat imaging to monitor it for growth. If it doesn’t grow and doesn’t cause symptoms they will probably continue to do nothing because surgery is too big a deal depending on the location. Anyway, good luck tomorrow. I hope it all goes well. I’ll be here reading to see how it all turns out.
Here’s hoping, I guess!
The tumor wasn’t there on the last x-ray (about 30 years ago).
So either it’s been growing slowly for the past 30 years, or it just popped up recently and has been growing scary fast.
I have no idea which one!
P.S. Fans? I have fans? Really? 🙂
Yes, duh. You have fans! I am also a huge fan of you. I freaking love you. *fanboy scream* XD
but seriously, you are so cool! 🙂
Wow!
😮
…. Yay!
(Still in shock)
Be careful about getting too many xrays though. Radiation will cause tumors to grow. Might be why the docs are not doing anything.
I’ve had x-rays on my neck bones, my spine, my feet, my knees, legs, ankles.. and maybe some other parts I’ve completely forgotten about.
Surely I’d be seeing some sort of glow by now.
It would be nice if it could lower my electric bill; I could just read by the light my extremities give off.
I hope it all goes to your liking. I am unsure how you want the test to pan out. I know when I was getting tested for Hashimoto’s I was relieved to find out that it was actually something physical and not just more “well we think you are crazy” type of thing.
As for the tumor. Damn. I mean DAMN. That is hope isn’t something you need to worry about. Maybe they can just stick a little needle in there and suck it out, like a little green pea through one of those white and yellow McDonald’s straws.
I’ll never look at McD straws in quite the same way ever again. 😮
If I remember correctly, the x-ray made it look like it was larger than a grape but smaller than a walnut.
it would take an awful lot of sucking power to get a grape through a straw, even a straw as wide as one of those white and yellow McDonald’s ones.
And I’ll let that image just marinate with you for a while.
There are those giant straw-type things that the mega-size Pixy Stix come in…
Do they still make Pixy Stix?
(Insert keanu Reeves photo)
What if, the almost walnut mass is your brain and the rest is actually tumor?
Do you feel you’ve gotten substantially smarter the last 30 years? If so, I think we know the answer..
Substantially smarter?
We would need to run a before-and-after analysis of both IQ values to determine whether the result is statistically significant. Statistical hypothesis testing is traditionally employed to determine if a result is statistically significant or not. This provides a “p-value” representing the probability that random chance could explain the result. In general, a 5% or lower p-value is considered to be statistically significant.
… wait, what was the question again?
I’m not sure now… but I feel I should vote for you.
LOL!
You might as well.
I can just see it if a bunch of people put me down as a write-in candidate… all these people counting the ballots would be scratching their heads and saying “Who the hell is ‘Cordless’?”
Can you imagine? That would be beyond hilarious. America elects anonymous internet poster as president… said candidate refuses to identify themself due to crippling anxiety and paranoia.
In other news, the political system continues uninterrupted, business as usual.
Yay!
Just doing my part as an American citizen.
When can I start accepting campaign contributions?
When you are done analyzing it I am offering my services to recheck your analysis.
Do you accept payment in marshmallows?
What about bubble tea straws? They’re pretty big. WAY bigger than regular straws. Will def. suck out a pea. Or a blueberry. Maybe a small grape, but not so much a large grape.

Pixy stix? Aren’t they the straws full of sugar powder? And damn, I used to eat that shit as a kid. Like POURED that entire straw tube into my mouth. We all did. That’s prolly why so many Americans have diabetes and sugar issues. Those things are like the worst things ever. But I didn’t know that sugar was bad back in the day. At least I didn’t when I was 10.
I have never tried bubble tea, but it sounds awesome.
Yeah, Pixy Stix! Tubes of sweet/sour flavored sugar! Good stuff! 🙂
Cordless…dude, if they say it’s a tumor promise me 1 thing…
You’ll look the doc right in the eye, use your best Arnold Schwarzenegger voice and say “I dunt have uh toomah”
I’ll start practicing my Austrian accent just in case.
If they remove it, do you get a little jar to take it home in, like they do with teeth at the dentist?
If that’s what happens, I’ll be sure to take a picture of it and post it here.
This is kind of a weird thing to say, but…
I know some famous composers started writing either really GOOD stuff or really WEIRD stuff right before dying of [whatever they died of].
For example Maurice Ravel wrote his most famous (and most atypical) piece, Bolero, after he developed a rare type of dementia.

I’m almost looking forward to seeing if this is going to change the kind of music I’m capable of writing.
I guess it’s morbid to say that, but it’s true.
Not morbid. It’s finding a beauty in a dark subject. Really, you already do or don’t have, so this is just confirmation.
In my eyes, it’s just for the sake of knowing. It doesn’t change the course of the ship.
Well, if I ever start writing cartoon-happy-smiley music, you’ll know something horrible has happened. 🙂
You can all get together and light candles and sing kum-ba-ya and say “We remember when she wrote music like an axe murderer…. those were the days.”
The irony would be if I became a multi-millionaire writing happy music for the cartoon industry, and then died the day before the check arrived. (!)
Well, I think I should be your agent, so have them mail me the check, and I’ll forward it to you…
Hmmmmm…
That sounds like it belongs in that Alanis Morissette song, “Isn’t it Ironic…dontcha think? A little tooo ironic…”
Yeah!

So…that means you should play the lotto. 😛 Put it in your will, leave the winnings to someone you care about. Or to a good charity.

@ToTrees: Gaaaaah!! OMG. 😮
@bah: I am nowhere near lucky enough to win the lotto.
@ToTrees: Here’s the 2nd video, the one where they actually took the tumor out.

It ended up being cancer, and had spread to her left lung.
Wow.
I’ll be thinking warm thought about you this morning.
Thank you!
The warm thoughts helped make it about 60 degrees here, which is definitely warm for us this time of year.
glad things are ok
Mr. Nut!
Guess what!
I bought Cheetos yesterday. 🙂
i did too.. to cover up my p-value
LOL!
I forgot to ask if you used the crunchy kind or the puffed kind.
half and half mix…
Fascinating.
My favorite are the crunchy ones.
You could always try this:
http://iruntheinternet.com/05921
i think that would definately burn the p-value
Probably!
i eat a lot of peppers too.. got pepper juice there twice.. it wont happen a third time i can tell you that
Twice?
im a little slow … lol
I love hot peppers.
The hotter the better.
But I remember chopping up some habaneros a couple years ago.
I diced about two or three cups of them.
I didn’t use gloves because I thought they wouldn’t bother me.
I thought “Hey, I like having them in my mouth, so how could they possibly bother my hands?”
After I finished, my hands were actually tingling with this weird zingy feeling.
It didn’t go away for a couple DAYS.
Weird that I love eating them but my hands couldn’t stand chopping so many of them at once.
ya… i wear gloves now…
Cordless, i am one of your fans, too! you are so funny, smart, sensitive, and creative. i truly wish you the best with your health challenge. <3
Well, wow. What a nice thing to say!
Thank you. 🙂
.
Just a dot?
you’ve rendered him speechless
