This is my first ever post. But I was desperate for some help because I don’t know how much longer I can go on. For many years I have off and on considered giving up and ending my life. And lately the need and want for giving up is growing stronger. Some mornings it is just hard to get up and out of bed. I live with my boyfriend, who does not take suicide very seriously and only thinks it is stupid and what weak people do. I have a hard time talking to him about it. He asked me to be stronger. I don’t know how. Going to work is horrible because I have no motivation, and I have no motivation to do my school work. This semester is almost over, it’s finals week thank god, but I feel I should not be so excited to be out of school. I’m supposed to like what I am studying right? Anyways, advice would be nice. On how to get through my days.

Hello. Sorry you feel that way. I’m pretty new too, but you can always come here for help. Everyone is very supportive and nice. Some of the users here know how to give good motivational advice. Sorry I couldn’t help more.
I’m in highschool and i can’t control my depression. My depression and anxiety has kept me home 6 or more days this school year. My advice is to get out of bed and be like the sooner I get this over with, the sooner I will get home and be able to watch tv, relax, or do what ever. I don’t have any motivation either. The only thing that motivates me is going home and hanging out with my best friend, my bed. 🙂 I also find it easier if you make check points for the day out. For example, for me I’m like, first I got to get through first period, the second, then third, then lunch, fourth period, and then going home. Also it is totally normal to be excited for the end of the semester. I have finals in 4 weeks and I’m dying waiting for school to be over. Hope this helps though. 🙂
Some parts of what you study you’ll love… Other parts. Not so much. A friend of mine who was a History major loved certain eras, important figures, and geographic locations. Some other things incredibly bored her.
If -everything- in your major is boring you, then it might be wise to review your chosen course of study. (Still study hard… GPA). In the meantime, try taking breaks from time to time. If there are others in your class that you can study with, go for it.
Does your school offer counseling to students? If so, maybe it’s worth stopping by.
A lot of people don’t understand challenges in mental health. ‘Be stronger’ probably isn’t meant to offend… It’s often a sign that someone doesn’t have the knowledge or information needed to offer a more applicable response.
By the way, welcome to the site. There’s a lot of support here.
Yes, welcome to SP.
