I’m down to 20% battery power, which means my next stop will be McDonald’s so I can plug in the charger.
Sadly McD has started putting filters on their wifi, which block out some sites.
I can view sp but am not allowed to comment or view my dashboard or edit/publish posts.
The filters also block Pandora radio, Wunderground weather, Legacy dot com, and Neopets.
It also blocks me from clicking on any search engine results.
Ridiculous.
Pisses me off, but they’re the only place nearby with recharging outlets available to the public.
So If I can’t connect to the neighbor, I have to drive to wifi spots with no filters.
If I can’t do that, I can’t comment or post at all.
So awhile back when I was desperately begging the admins to help me figure out why I sometimes couldn’t post (which they never did answer), it turns out THAT was the problem. Some wifi hotspots have started putting ridiculously strict filters on the access.
The problem goes away when I find a place with no filters.
Cordless can you add a data plan to your phone? Not sure if you are using your phone or tablet or what but what I have is a data plan with unlimited data on my phone and up to 5 gigs any additional device. My phone has the WiFi hotspot. So in the rare instances I feel like using my slow computer I can.
@wintergirl: No, sadly I have no wifi of my own. Not even on a phone. I use one of those pay-ahead-of-time tracfones. I use either my laptop or tablet to leech free wifi from others.
Hi Cordless, if you have access to the Google Play app store you should try downloading a VPN browser called Hola. It seems to be able to bypass many filters. Thanks to that browser I was even able to watch a show on a website that was only streaming for those in New Zealand and Australia. You can set it to a variety of different countries.

LOL!
Nice to see your borrowed internet is working today.
Oh no it isn’t. I’m currently parked in my car outside a Subway, leeching the wifi.
My neighbor’s wifi has been really bad all week long. I hope it’s just a temporary issue.

I would join, except I don’t consider myself to be darn okay.
Hey, me either. I plan on faking it.

(*Hangs head in momentary shame*).

@nepheliad: Interesting! I will look into that and see if it’s something that might work for me. Thank you!
