Another pencil-and-paper sketch.
Originally I had it the other way around, with things exploding upward out of the box, but eventually I decided I liked it better upside down. Exploding upward requires an amount of energy I just don’t have, but gravity works whether I want it to or not.

Cordless, Nice cordless an upside down exploding box? art work is nice 🙂 an upside down exploding box? little skeleton heads nice touch 🙂 and upside down exploding box? hum?
and upside down exploding box? and upside down exploding box? hum? Maybe I’ll understand this better once I have a drink!!!! GUZZLE GUZZLE!
AN UPSIDE DOWN EXPLODING BOX!!!!!! 🙂 Hick-up
Rocketman! Think SYMBOLISM.
Have another drink. It will get easier.
If all else fails, just hold the screen upside-down so you can see it right side up.
Unless you’re using a tablet which automatically flips the screen back… In which case you’re probably screwed, but it would be awfully fun watching you try that a few times… getting more and more confused.
Hey this is nice. I like your 3d box. Is that colored in?
It reminds me of the puzzle box from HellRaisers.
No color, surprisingly. It’s plain pencil and paper. But somehow when I took a picture of it, the camera added in some warm coloring. It did that with the previous one too. My guess is it’s because the pictures were taken at night and the camera automatically added its own lighting.
You are better at drawing than I am at the piano that is for sure.
Are you still taking lessons from the adorable nerdy guy?
Of course! I’m up to something called “the harp song” and working on G position. I learned minor keys yesterday!
He happens to be married too, which makes him even more delightful as a teacher.
Cordless, SYMBOLISM? Hick-up! I LIKE THE BOX!!! IT’S GROOVY!!! as HDS said nice 3d, i was thinking the same thing but didn’t know what to call it. actually i’m drinking coffee i’m so tired, it’s hard to get motivated, i already had two cups, i think i’ll have to make another double strong.
Isn’t it too late in the day to worry about getting motivated?
Now is the time to enjoy having no motivation at all.
It’s just like any other time but with less guilt.
Cordless, well it’s 5:40 pm, I had visions of coming home from work and doing something, i’m sitting here looking at the screen, funny i had all the motivation in the world getting things done and solving problems at work, which i’m good at but not really interested in doing anymore, but when i get home i have no motivation to do the things i like. i’m just complaining on your post, IS THAT HI-JACKING!!!!! 🙂
Feel free to hijack whenever the mood strikes.
Unless the box is fastened to the ceiling, wouldn’t gravity cause the box to fall down? It’s upside down (as evidenced by the arrows). Perhaps this scene occurs in an alternate universe where Newton’s crazy law doesn’t exist?
My theory is that the force of the explosion is momentarily greater than the force of gravity, and we just happened to catch it in mid-bang.
The alternate lawless universe theory is also acceptable.
🙂
Or! Or…
The force of the explosion directly counteracts gravity, enough so that as a result the box stays in place. 😛
That works too.
🙂
This is great. I love it.
Letting the explosion out is far preferable to trying to bottle it up and having it tear you open from the inside.
Very true.
whiskered-fish,
Kind of like a fart???
Exactly like a fart.
Funny how Hallmark doesn’t make cards that say that.
Makes sense. It’s a frozen moment in time where rules get thrown out the window and the impossible flourishes for one nano-second.
Now if only I had a way to make the impossible flourish for the next 40 years or so…
Unless the rest of my life will be only a nano-second long, in which case I guess this is just right.
Cordless,
i think the drawing represents, your brain exploding and thinking outside the box?
That’s actually very insightful…
I like that interpretation.
My interpretation. What I see. The box is right side up, it’s the world (viewer) that’s upside down.
Ultimate mind fuck…. is there really things exploding out, or are they, are you, being sucked in?
I like that interpretation too. 🙂
Alan Ominous, hum? i think if something explodes then the implosion comes right after words. so i think it’s both?
I think I lerndid that every akshun has an equail and oposit reakshun
What I see in your picture, and I’ve been looking at it on and off for an hr thinking on it, is it’s a mind exploding, and the whirlwind of thoughts that accompany it….manic energy or something.
