They are so fucking horrible and boring that you begin to believe that the outside world is not so bad after all. And it is like being in prison if you are there compulsorily, you realise how precious freedom is. The people who work in them are very good though.
5 days I was in, I thought I’d end up being there for week or months, there’s no way I could have handled that, I actually thought I was going to kill myself this morning.
Then, just after lunch I had a quick chat with a shrink and he informed me I could go home, to my utter amazement.
Still feel doomed though. The road ahead will be a tough one.

Did your stay there cause you to miss anything specific about the ‘outside world’?
Just basic freedom. It’s like prison, as I said.
that sounds horrible 🙁 sorry
I have been in psych wards several times and I can say YES, they are like prisons. You are locked up > you cant have your normal clothes, You are constantly watched, its usually cold and kind of dirty in those places. The only thing you have to look forward too in those places is for food and snack times. Sometimes they have a TV in the break room thats about it. Your also in there with some people with real messed up problems too. Its not fun in those places.
