Phil Collins is probably in a deeper hell than any of us here. Once hailed one of the greatest drummers in the world, he suffered nerve damage 7 years ago and can’t hold a pair of sticks anymore. Despite his huge popularity on stage, his private life has been utter crap with a bunch of failed marriages, broken families, lawsuits over money, and haters ridiculing him over his looks. He admits his cocky attitude on stage is because of deep insecurities, and a few years ago he told an interviewer that he considers suicide a lot but is holding on because of his kids. There’s no such thing as paradise for anyone, everyone has it pretty shitty.
I don’t believe that everyone has it pretty shitty. Some people get high cards, and some people get low cards. I could swap places with a lot of people I know, but given the chance I wouldn’t do it because I wouldn’t wish what I’m going through on my worst enemy.
That’s a good point. I think for the most part we each deserve what we get. So we can’t really transfer it to anyone else. Phil Collins deserved his failed marriages because no one forced him to say “I do.” The same way, all the crap I’m dealing with is mine and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone (except maybe Justin Bieber) because I made all the decisions that got me here. Funny how life works out like that.
