They say hi to all the SP people.
Why is it that every single thing that ever happens in life is just a rehash of things that have previously happened, and I’m always surprised by it? Wow, I didn’t expect that to happen. Oh-well, pass the booze. I’m gonna be here for a while, I bet.

Share the booze, I’ve been sober too long lol
I don’t get what the big deal is with sobriety. It’s like society is a group therapy session for masochists. No thanks. I’ll take some pills with my booze.
All day, every day. Oh and uh… puff puff pass: )
The issue is when the alcohol and drugs control you rather than being a good night out or a way to relax at the end of the week. When you can no longer function without the substance or addiction it has so many negative consequences. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a drink or toking up with some friends if it isn’t controlling your life.
Ok but at what point is it controlling your life? I was drunk/stoned all the time and still held down a job quite nicely. It was the disorders the booze and weed were covering up that would have gotten me fired.
If you were better on drugs why does your friend want you to stop?
Because he’s straight laced while I grew up with a 12 pack by the fridge, my mother asking if I could watch the child all the time so she could get high and my dad taking me with him to buy weed and into liquor stores at a young age. (Which I would never do. I’m more responsible then those a**holes)
I get that. I think we all have that one friend that doesn’t step off the pavement.
If it’s not causing any major issues then I wouldn’t worry about it so much. It’s great you want to make your friend happy and I think it’s a worthy goal but when that is all said and done you have to make yourself happy too.
One observation though, if you are having withdrawals that means you’ve become dependent on it. Break the habit and if you can still enjoy on occasion without dependency then that’s awesome.
Who said I was ha ing withdrawals? I went back to my normal thought controlled, short tempered self which was why I started starting drinking. As far as me being happy goes it just doesnt seem possible. I see the pros and cons to everything and I’m never happy with my choice.
“Yeah but… ” is what my brain does all the time. I just want it to shut up.
How do alcohol and drugs control someone? In my experience, they alter how you feel, and that’s about it. If you find a good balance, why mess with it? I have a friend who takes suboxone every day and if he stops, he gets withdrawals worse than heroin. According to him, they make him a better person. I’m cool with that. I won’t take the stuff more than once every blue moon, but I can definitely see the appeal.
Thank you rivets. I hope the cats are doing good 🙂
Cats are doing good. I gave Melvin about 3oz of catnip and he’s stuck to the ceiling right now, and Squeaker is batting at his tail from the back of the sofa. Rikko’s just glaring evilly at them. About what you’d expect from a [insert day of the week]. How are you holding up, aside from the horrible sobriety? lol
I’ll email you about it when I get home.
I’m no better than anyone else here. I’m just trying to help. I know DOA has been working on staying clean and I don’t want to see anyone that is trying to stay sober throw it away and then add that to their self hate.
I don’t have an issue with drugs and I use occasionally myself but I also know people who have died or nearly died of overdose and I know people that drugs have ruined their life. It has to be balanced, when you can’t go on without them problems start to arise.
P.S. Yay for kitties! I love cats.
Abnormal.Thoughts is right. I have been trying to stay sober. I’ve actually beat my last record of a week. I think. I’d have to ask my friend but I’m working on day 9 I just need to find time to make a post on it. Worse come to worse I’ll make it when I get home. Thank you for helping btw. I’m very grateful for it and I’m sure my friend will be too 🙂
Consider this: 31% of accidents are caused by drunk drivers. Sober people cause 69% of traffic accidents. I’m just sayin’.
? I know I’m stating the obvious here, we all understand this, but just in case, there are far more sober drivers than drunk drivers so 31% is really bad. I do love the attempt though.
Not where i live, lol.
Apparently laughing emojis show up as question marks. Lol.
Not sure where you live or where the statistic originated either.
There is a reason drunk driving is not condoned which is supported by data. Some people drive just fine drunk or high, many don’t. The first time I ever got high I got pulled over for “driving suspiciously”, lol, I was going pretty slowly it turns out, got away with it still but I was ready to implode from fear.
Hey Rivets. You seem tired.
I’m always tired. Chasing these cats around is exhausting.
