Following up on someone else’s post:
Therein lies the problem- our society is fundamentally “broken.” It doesn’t work for the masses, it doesn’t work for the working poor. But Americans are brainwashed to think everything is fine and great in America- and if you DARE complain about anything it’s always met with “then move and leave the country!” or “look at Africa, we have it SO much better, how dare you complain!”
Nobody fucking thinks we should FIX a problem instead of just “leaving the country”?? How do you think we have Child Labor Laws? By saying, “if you don’t like it, move!”? NO. The reason why we have safety standards, and child labor laws, and what shit we do have, is BECAUSE people stood up and fought for it, NOT to throw our hands up and say “oh well, if you don’t like it, just leave the country then.”
It’s the dumbest fucking shit I’ve ever heard. But that’s what most Americans say when you have the audacity to point out the flaws and deficits of broken and corrupt systems and life in the US. If you dare to criticize and complain, it’s always met with “why don’t you move and live in Africa then?” instead of “you’re right, we need to FIX things here in America so it can be better.”
(and no, i am not black, it’s just a thing ppl ALWAYS say when you see something broken in the US that ought to be fixed and point it out)
