People don’t realize that THIS is the problem with modern life in America. Is it a wonder why so many people are unhappy, on drugs, alcohol, opioids, antidepressants? Is it a wonder why everyone is so unfulfilled? With crap jobs and crap bosses? Sure not everyone has a crap job, but a LOT of people do.
We now live to work, not the other way around. I’ve been working since I was 7. My family was poor so everyone had to work, didn’t matter I was that young. I busted my ass working hard at everything- at school especially bc I thought that was the way out of poverty. Got amazing grades, got my BS, managed to get a “good” job at a prestigious place, only to find out adult life and work is all bullshit.
There is no meritocracy. You aren’t rewarded for hard work, intelligence or being a good person and kind. No, rather the opposite. Those who did the best in life were the assholes who didn’t care about anyone and was willing to stab everyone in the back to get ahead. The kind and caring people stopped being kind and caring. People grow older and more bitter and selfish.
You can work hard your whole life and not get anywhere.
Real wages have not increased since 1980.
Work, eat, sleep.
Work, eat, sleep, repeat.
Hell, I can’t even sleep anymore so FML.
–>Anyway, long story short, modern life fucking sucks.
