I am FUCKING PISSED that the shitty PC place refused to let me take the PC Repair Class years ago. There was a program for unemployed people to take classes so they can learn skills and get employed, and they had one right near my old apt. But they wouldn’t take me bc I wasn’t the race they wanted (it was run/staffed by a certain group of ethnic people) and they wouldn’t let me take that class even though I qualified. It was a horribly racist place. I qualified and they refused to even put me on the list bc I wasn’t the skin color they liked. And yes, they were racist af. I saw it not just with me but with others that came in who were not “the right color” they wanted.
Had I been allowed to take that class, I would have fucking LEARNED how to fix my own shit. Hell, I’d be able to fix other people’s shit too. But no. They were racist and would not allow me to take the PC Repair Course. And kept the spot for someone they deemed to be of the “right” ethnicity. They apparently did not see me as “disadvantaged” based on my skin “color.” Doesn’t matter that I was unemployed like every other person that goes in there and needed to learn skills so that I can be a USEFUL member of society.
Anyhow, it’s too late to go back and demand to take that course bc it’s in another state (I’ve moved). It’s really hard to get free training if you’re unemployed bc there’s just not enough programs out there, or “spots.” Hell, there WAS a spot but those asshats wouldn’t let me sign up. And yes, it WAS racism. If it wasn’t, I would’ve been allowed to fill out forms to apply for the program. Bastards wouldn’t even give me the fucking FORMS to apply.
I’m fucking pissed. I would have learned something useful and practical. And it was literally right by my apt too. And as someone with foot issues, that’s a HUGE deal.
No, I’m too tired to find a similar program in a new state. These programs, if they exist, are so hard to find, like a needle in a haystack, with tons of requirements and hoops to jump through to qualify. And even if you qualify, like I did, you run into racist jackasses that won’t let you sign up. And I’m less mobile and sicker now than I was in the past so no energy to go do all that now.
Anyhow, too fucking late. I would have USEFUL skills had I not been blocked back when I WANTED to learn skills and be a productive member of society.
