In principle I’m not opposed to the wonders of technology…but AI, that shit pisses me off.
We, 8 billion desperate human beings, need every job availabiliity we can get in this pathetic game that has ransomed our lives to the act of making money. If there was enough to go around, if people weren’t kicked to the pavement by the resource eater called the ecomomy…then AI might be helpful to someone. But no, tech bros are gettng quick profits out of the mechanic where ten people’s lives will be ruined, so that one person can get a spot of convenience. There’are huge job shortages and AI will just lock even more people out. “Your job won’t be taken over by AI but by somoeone who uses AI” absolute chump quote…that one person will do the job of ten people because the technology is that powerful. and so nine people will lose their job while the tenth might learn how to become a mindless machine prompter and not anything far a cry from a craftsman/artist/or thinking human being.
It has the potential to be a wholesale butchery of humanity, creatiivity and – two fo the price of one – a nice boost to unemployment while we’re at it. Again, If we didn’t have an already dystopian hellscape for a world, If we weren’t slave chained to having to make money, If we didn’t have socopathic narcissists arresting control of our lives…then AI would have a place in helping humanity. It’s uses in safety, resource management, medicine even could be wondrous. But as it stands, AI is just a tool by utterly (or deliberately?) careless tech bro’s making a profit off of something where people are encouraged to outsource their thinking, creativity and humanity itself.
Any brainless **** who births kids now, I have no respect for them whatsover. My brother and other family who knowingly had kids into this climate collapsing, AI infested, fake news ridden, sociopath controlled, slave market, LIFE.Ltd, are absolute Capital A – ASSHOLES.
All because the McDonalds of spirituality called Abrahamic faith encourages kid popping without the use of brains…that religious poison thus paved the way for the overcrowded monetary dysopia that made the perfect overstressed and desperate conditions for the development of AI to come at us like a drugdealer in an alley promising ‘relief’.

I get your concern about AI, but it’s inevitable like flying cars, computers, the internet. If someone comes up with a better way of doing something, they’ll make an industry out of it…that’s Capitalism.
Ofc if you happen to be in that group that can ride the wave of Capitalism, then you’re laughing but ordinary Joes are the ones who get shafted.
I think you’re right about AI replacing jobs, but maybe not completely and maybe not right away.
For example I have a business idea and I’m going to need to work with an artist to make renderings of my ‘vision.’ I’m quite certain AI probably won’t be able to do the job, but I will check it first…but very likely I will work with an artist since it’ll be an ongoing process, not just one design but iterations.
There’s still a fair bit of intellectual work that current AI cannot do, but a few generations from now we could all be screwed in the field where we thought we were fairly safe from ‘robotization.’
You will definitely see AI doing the jobs most people don’t want to do, the 4 D’s, Dull, Dangerous, Difficult…also the R of repetitive, but mindless robots do that already.
Some people have called for a UBI, universal basic income to help people whose jobs will be lost, I think it makes sense…we need consumers to work and spend their money on things…so the ruling elite need to make sure there still will be jobs for people or the UBI thing…can’t have millions of starving people who became obsolete because of automation.
I meant AI generations (not human)…which could be in another 10-20 years or sooner.
Also I forgot to add one D, Dirty.
I think that we keep adapting to the changes and new jobs were stomped out of the ground, when technology “took over”.
I’m a relatively young person still, and whenever I talk about something new I’m interested in, there is a job opportunity right there. The problem is, that institutions aren’t that quick to adapt to futuristic jobs yet. They never helped me find my place, ’cause they’re ‘old school’. Which is nice, I appreciate that about older generations. Everything nowadays is build for comfort and entertainment.
Doesn’t sound that bad, however I think this will make a lot of people ill. We’ll all have early onset dementia, because we never have to use our brain like we used to.
I honestly find A.I. fascinating, it makes me happy to see what can be done. Maybe I’m not thinking about the long term damage just yet ’cause I’m blindsided… We surely have to sign any form of artistic work with ‘human-made’ later.
I think there’s always things that need to be done or fixed, or even made worse. Worst case, the countries will have to make a fund for all jobless people. (Works in my country)
However I don’t think AI is on top of anyone’s problems… Things were messed up, before that came along. And we’re just building on top of that. There’s dust setting on a lot of problems and we keep ignoring them, letting other people mess it all up. And in the end it’s good to distract ourselves with the wonders of technology, ’cause hell I can’t listen to stupid government people anymore!
You’d be surprised about ai not being able to do what you want. There is a thing callre lora, where you train your own small “influence” if you will of the big model, and when you add it to your image generation, will “teach” the ai about what you specifically want to generate. Plenty of people have made lora of celebrities, and you can then generate images with them in the images.
Can be people, concept, objects, cloths, etc.. as long as you train your lora properly (that means creating an image bank, where each image is described by you), I am pretty sure the possibilities are limitless.
andway, you let me know if you’re interested.. cause I am, I want to create a few concept arts with this too
cheer
Some say that AI is the last thing humans will invent, It feels so. I just cannot see the benefit of going from the act of creating from ones own, to letting a computer do the imagining for them.
As for AI doing the repetitive and tedious jobs? Robotics are still hell expensive, but a subcription to Midjourney or ChatGPT is not, and so we are headed for a world in which humans are still working in factories and sweatshops to make the money they lost when AI took over all the creating/thinking/inventing/inspiration.
A total inverse, machines do what once made humans human, and humans work like machines, utter dystopia.
At least with an atom bomb (another appaling invention) it’s really hard to set one off, and its relative of Nuclear Power had benefits.
“Computer: think for me!” total BS.
AI replacing a crapton of human jobs is a problem, but the root of it are the greedy global elites that pay us the lowest they possibly can, yet extracting every ounce of work and use out of us they can, and hoarding all the wealth and rss for themselves while the rest of us are pitted against each other to fight for scraps. that’s the root of the problem.
eternaldarkness, you hit the nail on the head. I believe this desperate fight the elites have driven us to is exacly what gave rse to people using AI in the first place. Social Media has ensured that peoples efforts to make any kind of creative income, have a shelf life less than 5 minutes. Pushed to create content at an unspeakable rate they set up the perfect environment for AI, people just need some kind of break and like I mentioned in my post about the drug dealer in an alley it will get us hooked on outsorced thinkng.
Perhaps another ploy by the elites, they know people were empowering themselves through creativity and so waged a war of the act of creativty itself through social media and now AI to destroy waht little of that ‘market’ there was.
“Hey you, no creating! to the factory! Work Slave!”
It sounds conspiracy I know but I just feels so.
