I want to ask your opinion about seeking / talking to a professional. I never go to one. My mother asks me to go to a psychologist / psychiatrist. But I am afraid to pour out my deepest heart to a complete stranger. I feel embarrassed. I am also afraid that he/she will declare me as just an attention seeker. (Am I? I don’t know the answer. I don’t think I am but if a professional says so, who am I to counteract) It has happened before. I opened myself to some people in authority, and they ridiculed me and brushed me off as attention seeker. So now I am afraid to talk to anyone.
On the other hand, I (still) hope that perhaps a professional can really help me. Does talking to / seeing a professional really help? How does it feel to talk to one?
PS: you can read my other post if you want to know why I (think I might) need a professional help. Or do you think I don’t need it?? Please share your opinion / experience if you may. Thank you.

It depends on the professional. Some are good about it and will listen and offer solutions. others are just assholes who think everyone is an attention seeker. You need to find a psychologist/psychiatrist you trust.
^^ Good advice above.
But test the waters first. Build a solid relationship with them to see if they are someone you can trust and will listen. Give little things here and there and observe how they respond and if its to you liking.
I hope all works out in good favor.
Take care.
It is definitely worth a try. Before I was in therapy I had social anxiety disorder and was very afraid of opening up, so I understand yr apprehension. Therapy is a much better first step than putting toxic Meds in yr system. Give therapy a chance!
Good ideas! Thank you! I’ll try them all. And thank you for the reassurance that therapy might help.
