It started when I moved schools. I thought this would be a fresh start but one of my old best friends decided to ruin it since I was “taking her place”. She told the entire school I sent this boy nudes and that I stalked the most popular boy in our grade who was my guy best friend. Then to make it even worse she told my group “the populars” who excepted me and took me in that I called the head volleyball player in our school fat for no reason. I got home from gymnatics and had no idea this had even happend yet until I checked my instagram. Well all of my so called “friends” had sent me pictures expressing how mad they were at me and telling me never to talk to them again. Boys began slapping me in the butt everyday and seeing me as an object rather than a human being. People began asking me anonymous questions on ask.fm like “how’s your *** so big?” And “you’re so fake it isn’t funny”. Oh and let’s not forget the one that said “are you goin to stay back? You should because everyone in your grade hates you, you cock sucking whore.” Me and my friends were being stupid and dancing around in our underwear at a sleepover where they videotaped me on live broadcast and sent it to everyone. Finally one of my friends messaged me and said “if your going to kill yourself you should because nobody would care”. Someone began ruining my life blackmailing me from a fake number and I can’t figure out who it is. Now I’ve lost all my friends. And I’m considering suicide. I am numb. I am emotionless, and broken. Someone please tell me why they have done this to me. The link is a picture of me.

They’re jealous and immature and lack empathy. They most likely believe that “attacking” you in such a way, will somehow benefit them (which it most likely won’t). That’s why.
Some people are just assholes. Don’t kill yourself over it.
Live as well as you can, ignore them while they’re consumed by their own hatred.
Actually the sad thing is that they generally do get the benefit from it that they want. It gives them the safety and security of feeling more strongly entrenched with the main group. It creates a feeling of camaraderie and can be a bonding experience for the bullies. Having a common enemy is a very powerful thing, creating that common enemy to bring the group closer together has always been a useful tool. It gives the bullies a way to feel superior to someone and build up their own fragile self esteem by destroying someone else. Obviously they have that sense of well being knowing that while so much hostility is being directed at someone else there is less chance of them becoming the target for hostility instead.
Sounds like a pretty classic example of mob mentality. That is how most bullying goes. Most of the people bullying you probably don’t even have any strong feelings against you. They simply follow along with the mob. Most join in attacking you, to firmly attach themselves to the dominant group. To establish their position with the crowd and impress people. So they never become the targets of such bullying themselves. It is an unfortunate social display that replays itself in all walks of life and at all levels. Mob mentality is such an ugly thing, and the longer the abuse goes on the more it has to escalate. They get bored and have to go to greater and greater extremes to keep impressing each other. It becomes something of a display in creative hostility. I have no idea how you can solve the problem though, if there were any actual solutions it wouldn’t be the epidemic that it is today.

If true, this story is, while unfortunate, quite typical these days. The “herd” will single someone out, often due to a motive being invented by one individual who has enough influence to manipulate their friends’ interpretations of any given situation. Before you know it, everyone thinks the wrong things, because that one (often “popular”) person wanted them to.
One way to combat this is to simply state facts. People will feel stupid and ashamed once they realize they chose to believe a lie that was created to hurt someone who didn’t deserve it. Once this occurs, they’ll change their own minds without further intervention, and the instigator of the problem will ultimately be revealed as just that: the instigator. This rarely bodes well for anyone “popular.” In fact, it often backfires entirely, and that person loses all credibility and respect from their peers.
I doubt it is ever really that easy. The herd doesn’t want to let anything as boring as facts get in the way of a good story. Standing up to the popular influential people is never easy even if you are right and you have truth on your side that doesn’t always mean much. Its not what you know, its what you can prove and even more so what people will let you prove to them. People don’t want to let you to prove anything that they don’t want to hear. People would rather be safe and go along with the herd, they are too afraid that they might be the next one singled out by the herd. They might think something is wrong they might find it unfortunate but they will still go along with it out of fear.
