I grew up in a small flat with my sister, my dad and my mom. When i was 7 my dad used to do things with me, he made me do things to him.. In a few words: he abused of me. Growing up, i’ve become a bad guy. I ended up with bad people, i’ve lost 3 years of school, and now i feel like a loser. I’m so young, but i’ve already lost hope in my life, i’ve lost faith in myself.. I feel like a shit. If i had the chance, i would kill myself. I used to get drunk and then cut my wrist, and i would do it again, but i don’t want to let my mom know how much i suffer. I spent a lot of time closed in my room, watching tv series, playing games, and i’ve lost a lot of friends. I also had a girlfriend, but i’ve lost her too. I’ve made so many mistakes in my life… What can i do? I should talk to someone, i know that, but i’m sure that nobody could understand me. I’m not crazy, i’m just sad.. hopeless.. i don’t know what to do. I’m not asking for help, i just wanna share my sorrow with people i don’t know.

What is the meaning of life?
Simple. Evolution. But for everyone it’s a different type.
We are the ones that gives it a meaning. For example what is your purpose? Aha – what gives you moist joy, or makes you feel that is what you want to do for the rest of your life. Well that is your reason to live and that just happens to be your meaning of life.
For example I like to protect, there fore my reason to live would be to become a guardian.
P.s.
I wish I had a girlfriend, just to break my heart. Just so I could understand better Drowning pool songs.
Evolution is not the meaning of life. Purpose has to come from an intelligent being, otherwise it’s not called purpose.
Beings that do something because they know what the consequences are think in the categories of purpose; i.e. the purpose of opening the fridge might be to get food, the purpose of going to work might be to be able to afford something else, etc. In contrast, primitive animals act upon reflexes. There’s a mixture of both also, namely primates and other higher developed species. The meaning of a whole life is then equivalent to the meaning of the sum of all actions taken; ex. a scientist exploring the universe for his whole life gave most of his actions the purpose of greater understanding of nature, a mother might give all her actions the purpose of raising children, etc. In the latter example the children are the purpose of the mother’s life, but the source of that purpose is still the mother. In that manner the source of the purpose of one’s life is always oneself, but the purpose itself can revolve around other human beings.
So ultimately the connection between evolution and the meaning of life is the following: Through natural selection we got the possibility of feeling purpose because beings that give their actions purpose apparently have a better chance of survival than others. Still, ‘evolution IS purpose’ is wrong.
First of… What are you even talking about… 10 minutes later… Oh, I see…. So, yea, you misunderstood word evolution. I guess your biology, fizick, math, and other teachers did not evolve with word evolution. I mean mine was evolved to a high philosophy level.
Is life and intelligent being? Is a tree alive? Are you alive? How is life in a tree different from you?
I used word evolution and NOT natural selection for a reason.
Lets look at the Darwin man evolution picture. What they are doing? Moving forward. What is grass doing? Growing. What is birds doing? Flying. And they are all alive. Now let’s look at the rock… Back to living things.. Back to a rock..
Bacteria is alive. Show me intelligence in there.
Any type of life’s purpose is to move forward. Aka – not just stand in one spot like a rock before turning in to dust.
Human type of life purpose(not exsistance or any other type of) purpose is just to simply DIRECT THAT MOVING FORVARD. AKA – EVOLUTION… AKA – WHICH WAY DO YOU WANT TO EVOLVE. MOVE FORWARD.
Evolution; The gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex from.
One could make the argument that evolution IS the purpose of life. That the meaning of life consists of advancing towards what you’re capable of someday becoming. Realizing your full potential. (Unless you’re already as evolved as you’re ever going to be).
You’ll have to articulate in a clear and understandable manner for a discussion to be fruitful. The only things I see here are high self-overestimation and misconceptions about philosophical/ biological subjects. Sorry to be so direct.
Purpose, meaning and intention in this context are exchangeable words. They all require the existence of a mind that creates them. There is no evidence for an inherent purpose, meaning or intention in the universe, because there is no evidence for an (intelligent) mind that created the universe.
“Any type of life’s purpose is to move forward.”
I don’t see how this is only slightly relevant, apart from the fact that the word purpose is misused. It’s like saying the purpose of a rock that is dropped from a building is to fall to the ground. If someone created the law of gravity with the intention of stones falling to the ground when dropped, then yes, you would be right. But as I said, no evidence of such a being exists. If you had written your sentence like this:
“Everything moves forward.”
Then you would’ve been right. As much as the modified statement that “a stone dropped from a building falls to the ground” is right.
@Morris: I agree with our definition of evolution. And yes, if you set the purpose of your life to evolve to some other state (whatever that might be), then you could say “evolution is the purpose of your life given to yourself by yourself”, or just “evolution is purpose”, but that’s rather ambiguous and possibly wrong – especially since not everyone’s purpose might be to evolve, ex. a mother raising her children.
If the purpose of life isn’t to transition to the next level forward, then what else is there? Isn’t that what human beings have been doing since the dawn of humanity? Advancing?
It’s not just about furthering the species (creating more babies). Moving forward as a whole also includes becoming more knowledgeable about every aspect of life. Breakthroughs in science, technology, and understanding where human beings fit into the grand scheme of things is also part of it. Realizing that planet Earth is nothing more than a tiny rock in space when compared to the vast backdrop of the cosmos, and finding meaning as an inconsequential grain of sand on and endless beach.
Evolving is about more than just focusing on one’s individual (petty) attempt at assigning meaning to their existence.
No, you are wright. I need to apologize for my actions as I was already agro from rewriting my book with a 10s delay cos I written to much. You may ask if I am a writer, than why am I using phone instead of PC. Simple. I don’t have one. I blindly bashed some of my opinion and that is not OK.
The low of energy says that it does not come, and does not go anywhere. It just simply change its form. Again everything moves forward, but at the same time it does not.
As a living body grows, while dead one decays. It’s a movement, but in my eyes its movement up and down. Also my head really hurts from being in car the whole day.
The meaning of your life is whatever you choose it to be.
If you want your life to be crap, it definitely will be…
Some things I can’t actually talk about on here, mainly my meaning of life. My advice would remain the same though, choose something a bit specific as your purpose for living…and don’t try to be everything like myself, lest it tear your mentality apart in polar opposite directions.
