Has any completed or started doing ECT? (Electroconvulsive Therapy )
I’m pretty much giving up on the “normal” forms of treatment. I know 15 different meds and 15 different psychiatrists might not seem like a lot to some people on here but I feel I have already suffered enough as a result of those treatment options.
At this point if I do go back to “normal” treatments I have a list of antidepressants I cannot take based off of genetic testing and I will absolutely refuse to take a mood stabilizer again because if I do take one I’ll probably be dead withing 2 weeks of taking it because they make my depression worse. Basically I’d be forcing a psych to treat depression with adhd meds since I’m not a lab rat waiting to die from the other forms of medications lol
I also don’t know what exactly I have. I have been diagnosed with several things, a different thing with every new professional.

Hi, Ash.
I don’t know if you’d really like to take meds for adhd. My brother was treated with this kind and they’re pretty addictive because they are based on amphetamine…also side effects are…errrrrr…
I’ve undergone ECT after the 30 or so medication combos I’ve tried stopped working. The only thing I would say is be prepared for possibly memory issues after the treatment. The ECT worked for me (I probably should go in for “maintenance” treatments), but it was frustrating not being able to remember several days, and I even lost some of my memory from longer ago. But I’d say it’s worth a shot if nothing else has worked. But I will say if you haven’t tried adhd meds they’re worth a shot too. they at least let me hold off on the ECT a bit longer. But if you have any more questions just let me know and i’ll try to answer them 🙂
ECT worked for me for as long as I was having treatments and for about 6 months after… I kept having to go back for more, so I have had about 3 rounds of 8-12 treatments per round. My mom found a treatment called VNS (vagus nerve stimulator) which is an implant that shocks your vagus nerve every few minutes… For me it had the same results as ECT but no memory problems no recovering from anesthesia. VNS has been a life saver for me, so if ECT works for you then VNS may work also and you won’t have to go in for ECT maintenance. I think give the ECT a try and research the VNS if the ECT works.
I’m also in a similar situation as 30 +
years of drug treatments and therapy have failed to help me. Memory problems are so prevelent and severe with the medication that I’ve taken it makes ECT seem much less scary. Also, because of certain medications I’ve actually had 4 grad mal seizures and though they kind of effected my memory, they actually helped my mood considerably.
Holy fuck!! Sounds like I wrote this exactly. K so listen: I’ve been on more than 30 plus meds. They all made me worse and intensified my symptoms varying degrees. Point is they made me worse. Much worse.
ECT may work for you. It didn’t for me. I did about 15 rounds of it. Intense. Be prepared for memory issues to follow. My mind still isn’t the same but I react intensely to any form of treatment. You may be different and I think it could be worth a shot. If you have more questions email me at killswitchon88 @ hotmail . Com no spaces
